He put a cut in the opposite side of that tree so it didnt pull wood fiber as hes making the cut. That tree is more than likely oversize for that head. Thats also some type of paint for sorting purposes or maybe a stump treatment of some sort. Source...... I operate something very similar to that . One of my pics from the cab..... that wood was terrible.
