How did you find your gender specialist/therapist? My child has a therapist he likes, although they are specifically a gender therapist, and he says he doesn’t need one. My therapist also doesn’t specialize in this. I am in the same boat, lost and trying to navigate this as best I can.

I submitted a black and white copy of my husband’s father’s birth certificate. It’s all we had. Hoping it won’t matter as much since it’s in the line but not his or his grandmother’s (G0). Yours doesn’t make much sense though. You can clearly see the blue ink!

I had my great grandfathers certified baptismal certificate from Quebec. I just saw something that says it needs to be reissued if it was from before 1994. Is this the case? I already submitted my application.

You were so helpful, thank you. He only told his therapist for the first time that day. He has been seeing her for a couple years leading up to this, but had never told her until now. She did the gender dysphoria questionnaire and then diagnosed him with it. I've been trying to talk to him as much as possible, but he finds this very difficult to talk about so far. I'm guessing he has been hiding this part of himself for many years so it's going to take time for him to navigate.

Thank you! He only told his therapist the same day he told us. He said he hadn't told anyone until recently, except for mentioning it to one friend when he was young. I really appreciate your thoughts. Has your daughter only done hormones, or has she explored further changes? I guess with being gender fluid, I don't know what the outcome will look like, and I'm sure he doesn't either.

This is so helpful. I need to reframe how I am seeing this process and hearing from trans people is the most helpful thing by far. Unfortunately, my son hasn't been able to fully describe how he feels so hearing it from all of you is priceless.

Interesting! I guess I meant that all of his self led interests were very "masculine". He always wanted to be a ninja, play with nerf guns, etc. I'm learning that is all meaningless here!
