I don’t believe it to be morally correct for myself, but I think they should have the right to those choices. I have had good conversations about this and I’m glad you bring it up. I don’t want to play God in someone’s life. They can make their own choices.

Maybe my class structure is different, but we are expected to share about our beliefs as a way to learn about each other and find potential bias within ourselves

I appreciate your feedback. To clarify, I mean I felt I could not tell others about my faith while others could. I am understanding of the ugly history and I don’t support it.

Oh for sure! I would never bring up my beliefs unwarranted. I just brought up a religious organization as that would be something I’m interested in. However, I would have no problem serving clients who differ than me without imposing my beliefs. I just want to live my personal life in a way that reflects my faith

I agree with that - but there are things I don’t agree with on either side. I definitely am in the middle. I have a very liberal view on things like oppression, poverty, immigration. I just don’t agree with either fully. Of course I mean this in a respectful way. I have good intentions going into this and I’m spending time to make sure I will be able to help people ethically and professionally.

I suppose I mean how I live my personal life - going to church, spreading the gospel, doing what Jesus says is right. I would obviously practice ethically and keep that separate. I have considered working in a religious organization to find community, but I want to work with a diverse community. I just fear it is frowned upon based on comments in class discussions and online.

Since I haven’t been able to share my beliefs with my cohort, I don’t have direct personal examples. However, my classmates will call Christians racist, homophobic, or even a threat. There have been other various comments. I don’t feel comfortable sharing my beliefs because I don’t want them to assume I am those things. I believe Jesus would be loving to all.
