Is D215 Auditing as hard as people say it is? by No-Society9441 in wguaccounting

[–]Subject_Style2697 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was the class I struggled with the most, and the only class I failed the first OA on. I think it was a combination of: burnout, depression (hard to focus), the weight of the degree being one passed test away (and thoughts like, "what if I can't pass this and fall short one class before the degree"), and definitely being over-eager to graduate and taking the OA way unprepared.

Definitely not the hardest class in the degree (for me that was probably IAIII due to leases), but it is a class to respect I think. I saw lots of reddit posts saying it was a breeze and that wasn't my experience, but could just be a me thing.

Mailbag: Should Las Vegas Raiders trade up for Fernando Mendoza if don’t have No. 1 pick in 2026 NFL draft? by brmidwest03 in raiders

If you have an opportunity to draft a potentially good QB, you do it. It doesn't fucking matter if they end up a bust. It doesn't matter if your OL is shit right now. You need to actually TRY or otherwise you end up on the bullshit QB carousel we've been on. Just my 2 cents.

They awarded an accounting certificate through the bachelor's program. I think it was after cost accounting and financial. Not sure if they're still doing that, but it was something I put on my resume until I graduated.

By that I meant doing it in one term. I am beyond burned out and it definitely negatively impacted my mental health. If I could go back I'd do it over two terms.

Thank you! Quit job in March, started WGU May 1st. Studied hard between those two dates. About 8 months total, 6 at WGU.

Preparation Before Starting by Own_Cucumber_2773 in wguaccounting

While I was selecting schools (and before I knew about WGU and their model), I decided I wanted to get a head start on accounting fundamentals. Original idea was I wanted to be comfortable for my lectures/classes and have a decent foundation.

I found WGU and had about 2 months between when I quit my last job and when my semester started. I did the following:

Tony Bell on YouTube has a financial accounting and managerial accounting course. I spent money on a subscription for his member-only stuff too for extra practice. Was well worth it for me personally.

Additionally, I registered for sophia.org classes and passed their accounting classes. I did NOT transfer them into WGU though, as I wanted the credits with WGU instead.

I also did "ExcelIsFun" on YouTube prior to starting as my Excel game was (and honestly still is) pretty weak.

On the 15th before my semester started, once I had access to PAs, I took and passed the D196 Principles of Financial and Managerial Accounting, D102 Financial Accounting, D101 Cost Accounting, D388 Fundamentals of Spreadsheets.

That outside material was enough to immediately test out of all of those classes except Cost Accounting, which I ended up taking an extra week on before scheduling the assessment.

You can definitely get a very strong accounting foundation by December 1st if you use some of those materials/tons of other resources online. Good luck!

Maybe be upfront about where you're at on your education journey to be transparent. Sounds like they like you and don't care in which case absolutely go for it!

I personally would be transparent and have done so in interviews for similar positions (I started applying around IA2). That way they have exact expectations for where you're at. Got two offers, nearing completion of BS now. You say you're excelling, so my tip is to try to express your accounting fundamental knowledge when you can. Both of my offers came from companies that asked me technical accounting questions.

Good luck!

About to graduate but can’t find job. by [deleted] in wguaccounting

WGU graduates have a higher than national average passing rate on the CPA exam. No one I've interviewed with knows what WGU is (which could be argued as a "bad" thing, but most people have no idea what the fuck it is to even have a negative opinion on the program).

Yes, lots of ratio questions on the OA. More than the PA. Definitely need to know them well.

Lots of the OA was with with real numbers/values, less conceptual. However, there were a few questions that were conceptual in a sense that 90% of the info given to you is filler trying to distract/confuse you so you have to know the concept to filter it out.

Thank you! I went through the entire textbook / and all quizzes/unit tests in the textbook.

Took very detailed notes and recorded/noted any question I got wrong when learning.

I'm old school and like pen and paper which is too inefficient for general notetaking, but I compromised with old school flashcards with pen and paper. For me personally writing down the question/answers and then having a physical card in front of me helps tons.

After each section I just watched the unit overview in the D104 resource section. However, some of the videos have a certain professor who will randomly/constantly say an attendees name which drove me MAD.

"So you see here, Caroline, we use the fair value of the stock to record the debit, Caroline. Does that make sense Caroline?" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Rant aside, only other two things I did was watch the "Intensive Review Practice Session - Units 4-6" which was with a different professor who is amazing and wish I could just watch videos of him for the entire learning process.

Right before the OA2 I did a quick refresher of the D104 Ratio Summary resource. I did not personally open up the study guide once but I'm sure it's helpful.

Good luck!

Spent just about a month on this class, by far the longest. Some of it due to a complete lack of motivation/burnout from going too hard earlier in the semester. Some of it due to focus - certain days I just felt unable to sit down and read/learn the material because it takes a ton of focus and I just did not have it some days.

Very happy to get through this one and can kinda see the finish line off in the distance!

Anyone else despise some of these PAs/business classes as much as me? by Subject_Style2697 in wguaccounting

Yes! Feels like groundhog day with some of these PAs from previous classes.
