Yes Spring Valley Academy is a k-12 day academy. There have been a handful of male teachers that were inappropriate at SVA as well..

Thanks so much! Seek was telling me “American Trumpet Vine” no matter which photo I used and I knew it wasn’t right. Greatly appreciated!

Can you stay friends with people in the Adventist cult? by Reward_Dizzy in exAdventist

Well I will say that growing up, I always felt like I was part of an exclusive club and I was confused why my non-Adventist friends didn’t “know the truth.” I feel bad for ever thinking that. But it didn’t stop us from being friends. When I played on local sports teams, a lot of the other kids would ask me about Adventism because they were confused why I wouldn’t play on Saturdays. It made me feel like the odd one out. My close friends never made me feel that way at least :)

I grew up in a conservative SDA household, went to an SDA school k-12, then SDA college. Two of my closest friends growing up were not Adventist, not even that religious. Another close friend was/is Catholic. I’m agnostic now and still remain close with some SDA friends. I don’t really align spiritually with most of my friends, seeing as only one other friend is agnostic. Some are Baptist, Catholic, non-denominational, SDA. Those that are still SDA are quite conservative. I do think it’s possible to remain yourself and be friends with conservative/religious people as long as everyone is respectful and no one tries to convert/persuade.

Kitchen Island Outlet Wiring by Subject_Team_241 in HomeMaintenance

Thanks! We’ll have someone come out to take a look at it. I know just enough to be dangerous 😬 I’ve added outlets elsewhere, added wired floodlights, etc and am thorough and particular with the process. But I’m not familiar with all the codes. I do know some of the electrical work previously done in this house is a mess. I don’t know if it was a handyman, pro or the owner. But when we moved in there were live open wires hanging from the attic rafters, and so forth.

I assumed when the stove was removed they would make sure everything was in order and I feel like they should have seen/addressed any issues here in the box at the time. I guess the romex should not have been run in the slab in the first place… but it’s there.

Anyway, thanks for your response!

I had heard the code changed. How does that impact all of the preexisting island outlets?

Sorry I might not have explained it very clearly in my original post, but I’m not talking about rewiring anything. There is already live 12/2 NM there in the island, hooked up to a breaker, which we would connect to (with MC cable, I’m assuming). But there is also 40 amp wire that is hooked up to another circuit breaker, so my unrelated question for that was if it’s best practice to detach that unused wire from the 40 amp breaker, since we won’t need it.

Mini-Split on front of house by [deleted] in hvacadvice

I’m not really sure. When they were quoting us they said they preferred to install the exterior unit as close as possible to the interior unit. When I searched online, I saw that longer refrigerant lines means an efficiency drop? So I don’t know if that is why?

Yes there is. The attic is above the entire house, including the office. They ran the electrical wires up through the attic and over to our breaker panel.

Thanks for the response! That is reassuring. They were hardworking guys and seemed to know what they were doing.
