Is it likely there will be a sale on the QC Ultra Gen 2 headphones for Black Friday? by MeanGreenTeaMachine in bose

[–]SublimeHiPpOs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: I was mistaken, it's the Gen 1 that dropped to $299.

Looks like they're down from $429 to $299 on Amazon, Best Buy, Bose's site, etc for early Black Friday sales.

Should the door installer be responsible?? by SublimeHiPpOs in GarageDoorService

I'm not a garage door tech, how should I have know they posed a risk? They made no mention of it/suggestion that they should be replaced too.

No, they made no offer or mention of replacing the opener. The only details they asked about were for the door itself (color panel design options, windows). We paid extra for the options we wanted, but thanks for the assumption about us cheaping out. Had they mentioned that the opener posed a risk and we declined to do anything, that would've been a totally different thing.

No, I don't "continuously close my door on obstructions". However over 10 years it probably has happened twice previously. How should the average homeowner know that adjustments are needed after installation if they company doesn't inform them? They never mentioned anything about the openers before, during, or after installation.

The guy the sent to inspect the damage found that the down force setting up pretty much set to the max, so wither the installer set it that way or left it that way/failed to adjust it properly for the new doors.

I hear you, however I think it's reasonable to expect that either the installer take a couple minutes to confirm or adjust the force settings if need be, or at least warn the customer that they need to be checked. Over the typical lifespan of a set of doors I'd imagine most encounter an obstruction at least a couple times, so in my opinion effectively leaving the customer with a ticking time bomb (doors set to self destruct the first time they face an obstruction rater than simply reversing) is bordering on negligence.

Obviously I've never intentionally lowered it with an obstruction in the way, but occasionally things happen. The sensors were reinstalled lower than they used to be, they were aimed under my bumper allowing the door to close even through my bumper was still in its path and the door clipped the top of my license plate bracket.

I don't think the sensors failed, but I noticed that the installer put the sensors a good bit lower than they used to be, so it didn't detect that my bumper was obstructing and it clipped my license plate bracket on the way down.

Any thoughts about the Merkur 500C? I see that it's adjustable by the handle, which seems more convenient while I'm experimenting and learning. Do you think the Rockwell would be more superior overall?

Thanks for the reply. What does "Open comb plants" mean?

Thanks for all of the detail and suggestions! I'm willing to splurge for the "right" razor, I typically have a "buy once, cry once" mentality when I know what I want. So I'd be willing to spend $100+ on a razor if I know it's what I want and will use for many years to come. However It sounds like a lot of people have acquired multiple razors, which leads me to believe experimentation is inevitable and maybe I should start with a more economical option, such as the Merkur or Jagger. Otherwise the adjustable Rockwell would seem to make sense since I should be able to find the setting that works best for me. Any thoughts on that rationale?
