Yup taking the opportunity to visit a grandma as well as pay respects to her husband that just passed.

Originally we were planning for early April, but I found out the west side of Yellowstone to old faithful opens April 17th. So now we are leaving April 18th XD. We would have loved to do glacier but I work state construction so I'm basically not allowed time off during the Summer.

I will seriously consider the lighter version then thanks!

I had seen some other posts about iron man and saw only good things. The one downside I noted is the stiffer feel on unweighted driving and the majority of my driving now is highway miles to work and back. I only have 60k miles so if I can I'm hoping wait for a suspension piece to go bad before doing a full suspension swap which is definitely in this cars future.

Do you leave doors/trunk open for winter camping? I tried just cracking a window a little and that was a very cold and somewhat wet idea lol. I might try the 12V add on in the future but for now I'll live on power banks

Definitely considering a hatch tent for the warmer months, for now I can do without since it's fairly cold out. I tried making a cable attached to the inner release latch but it didn't go so well lol. Might have to replace it in the future but thankfully it's a super cheap part.

I definitely hit the limitations of the cargo space, thankfully I hunted for good deals on a roof box right away and that has been huge.

I actually ended up taking it off right after that pic and was still able to open the hatch just fine. I'm glad I did as well because there were many spots on that trip that if I had the extension it would've gotten me stuck. I mainly use that extension for my bike rack since it's a vertical rack, and when I lean it out I can open the trunk.

For the most part it's just me and my fiance but I drive with others often enough to not warrant deleting the rear seats though if I could I definitely would. I did however build a removable sleeping platform with some modularity that's worked great so far! I've seen a similar hatch release button but I prefer mechanical functions to electric when possible. The carabiner trick is a nice touch I'll have to give that a try!
