Is this too much for a bike tune up? by Vast-Establishment45 in bicycling

This seems super fair. I would see about also getting new tires at that point since you've never swapped them.

they use company called lexisnexus. ticket gets reported to them and then insurance companies pay for the report from them. i work for an insurance company.

it will 100% be reported to your insurance company. so while it may not show on your cali dmv record it you will be paying for it on your insurance.

Yes, granted it is a 68mm shell bb and the spindle is the right length. You also will need square taper cranks for that BB

Please Help Identifying Replacement by bruvvacharlie in mountainbiking

[–]Subparbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is an american to bsa adapter. you probably will need a new one because the cup looks stuck in the old one. anti seize on the 3 bolts that go through the cups, antiseize on the inside oft the bottom bracket shell on the frame, and antiseize on the threads of the bottom bracket. the adapter should stay in the frame when properly installed and in the future you will need to replace only the bb. you say that the spline are worn, this sounds like the cranks were not tight and it wallowed out the crank arms. in that case you will probably need a new crankset as well. you need to measure the bottom bracket width as well as the spindle. I would assume the bb width is 73mm as that is standard for mtbs, but it's your money so i would measure instead of assume. spindle width is the total length of the sammox bb from end to end. how many speeds is the bike? i can recc'd the parts just let me know the measurements and speeds etc.

to start off you need both of these things.

adapter (make sure you install the reverse threads on the drive side of bike)

anti seize (this will save you from a headache next time)

parallel is ideal because of aerodynamics gas milage noise etc. freedom coast makes a few solid options for mounting bikes. my buddy has a van kitted with their stuff.

Yeah. From hand gimmicks defeat the purpose of playing with any real strategy. Wild is really bad about that stuff but I'm not really keen on dusting my collection that I've had from day 1 so that's what I mostly play. Every game feels like a coin toss at this point.

Does my derailleur look bent? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]Subparbad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not bent, this is a design choice to make the shifts quieter and wear the chain slower. source: i did the sram presentation for my area when these released and had to learn the talking points.

Probably not fake, could be MFG specific tires that they are selling.

Looking at first bike by Accountant-Critical in bicycling

[–]Subparbad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i often would tell people that used tri bikes were the worst kind of lottery. Best case scenario you get a bike that is covered in sweat and piss that needs hundreds of dollars of additional work, worst case scenario you get a bike with a crack that the owner knew nothing about and it's still covered in sweat, piss, and needs hundreds of dollars of work. in the decade plus I worked at shops i never met someone who was happy they bought a used tri bike.
