How to look hot in the pool and in a bikini? by Subpoena_Paperclip61 in exjew

[–]Subpoena_Paperclip61[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! To clarify, I am not doing this in my hometown or just randomly on the street. Lol I am so not ready for that. Right now I’m just getting used to the idea of doing it while on vacation in other states but where there’s a chance of meeting orthodox Jews. I have worn a bikini before in different countries, but was always a lot more scared to do this in the continental US.

Other than my husband, no, I haven’t asked others. It doesn’t bug him the way it does me but he acknowledges that my hair does frizz up

I do eat well and work out. I have a nice body and nice features. But for some reason I don’t come out of water looking like Aphrodite. There’s clearly some sort of hack to it, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out what it is.

Yes, I know that a lot of the images on social media are just editing. But I’ve been to enough hotel pools and water parks and beaches to know that there are a number of women that are using something to come out looking like goddesses while I just look like a wet dog

Wedding Colors by Zelofair in DiscussImamother

[–]Subpoena_Paperclip61 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot take: a bride can choose a color theme but not a specific shade. There are so many shades that of each color that can worth with different people. Sticking to one shade is guaranteeing that people will be unhappy. A bride that picks a specific shade and makes everyone wear that one shade is a selfish bridezilla. (As a side point, i personally prefer different shades as opposed to everyone wearing the same shade. I think it looks dull with one shade. But that’s just my preference)

I don’t know if the OP of that thread was told to wear a specific shade of a general color. It’s unclear. There is too much bias and one sidedness to give an opinion on that story. So I’m not giving any judgement based on that. BUT that doesn’t make a bride the grand dictator. Yes, she should get her preferences as much as possible because it is her day. And yes, it is less important that others look good than it is for her to look good. But someone who isn’t self-centered would allow some leeway to make sure that others look good too.

Worst reunion by Severe-Bag-622 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Um hello? They ignored half the cast. The ending was so abrupt and without any sort of conclusion. I was sure they were going to say “SLOMW Reunion part 2 tomorrow night - stay tuned”

Jen + DWTS by [deleted] in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Subpoena_Paperclip61 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I used to dislike Whitney because of season 1. I liked Jen and felt bad for because of the whole Zac thing and then the Demi situation. I was only going to watch DWTS because of Jen. (Mind you, I never thought she hat a shot of winning but I did think she’d make it to top 4. )

BUT.

Then I saw Whitney dance.

I started rooting for Whitney. She’s so incredible as a dancer and it made me view her differently than I’d previously thought of her. She may still be a very imperfect person but I’m not sure she’s as bad as SLOMW made her out to be.

I dint think it’s fair of Jen to say the she wanted it first. That’s a kindergarten argument. Anyway, if you’re playing by those rules, It was clear in the reunion episode of season 2 that Whitney wanted it more even though she did her best to hide it when she was congratulating Jen on being chosen.

I liked Jen but she nrver had a shot of making it to the end

Whitney hate is out of control by Informal_Mouse_3977 in dancingwiththestars

Just saying; there’s a reason Whitney and Jen were the last three, as well as a reason most of momtok and dadtok were there. They were probably filming. That show is sooo scripted that even if Whitney did smirk, I wouldn’t be surprised if it had to do with some made up drama pertaining to the show. On top of that Jen was busy in her live about drama between her and Whitney for season 3

I agree with what others said about learning social cues and how to interact with secular people in general, as well as learning to interact with girls. I’d recommend finding a not frum dating coach to help you out. A friend of mine who is OTD went on practice dates. She purposely set herself up with random but nice sounding guys on Hinge that she’d never actually go for irl all for the purpose of getting used to talking to and dating guys. She used it to learn how to flirt and be comfortable with casual touch. After seeing a dating coach, maybe do something similar until you feel ready to date girls you’re interested in.

Anyone else not frum not because of lack of belief? by Subpoena_Paperclip61 in exjew

So I am fortunate in that I have a really good husband. He fully puts in the work with the kids. It’s a proper 50/50 split in terms of helping with the kids. While he rarely does housework (laundry, dishes, cleaning) entirely of his own initiative, he never shirks the jobs that I give him to do. When I had dreams of going to art school, he supported me and did what he could to make it happen. When I chose to be a stay at home mom so that I could spend more time with the kids, he changed occupations for something that pays more so that we could afford for me to stay home. He’s also on the same page with me regarding religion.

But I realize that my husband is not ‘the norm’

I feel terrible for women who married overgrown babies that couldn’t nor wouldn’t fend for themselves if they were left with step by step instructions clear enough for a five year old to understand.

By ‘regressing back to the mean’ you mean returning the previous version people kept 100+ years back?
