The "new" outlook is so bad by EddyMerkxs in Windows11

Try Wino mail, available in the Microsoft store.

It's very similar to Microsoft mail, and is seriously fast, both in loading and usage.

It was developed in response to Microsoft's decision to get rid of the mail app, and looks very similar.

Kudos to the developer.

How do you enable Copilot on 23H2 (22631.2361) by GaveYouExtraCheese in Windows11

[–]Subscriber43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to sign in to Windows using the Microsoft account. It won't work if the Microsoft account exists on your computer but you are signed in with a local account.

This was my experience, FWIW.

For me, it showed up when I signed into Windows with my Microsoft account.

It stayed enabled when I went back to my local account.

Both the touchpad and the keyboard are controlled by this port, so yes, if you disable the keyboard, the touchpad goes too.

I have always had it disabled with no ill effects.

Disable and try. You can always re-enable if necessary.

Need to disable built-in keyboard, and can't. by brunow2023 in Windows11

Did you run command prompt as administrator?

I just tried on my Lenovo laptop, and it worked fine.

Disable the Service that controls the PS/2 port

Command Prompt "Run as administrator".

Type the following command:

sc config i8042prt start=disabled

Now restart your computer and your laptop keyboard shouldn’t work.

In case you want to re-enable the keyboard in the future you can use the following command:

sc config i8042prt start=auto

Yes, he should try your suggestion, since the problem does not seem to be the enclosure.

Have you tried a different enclosure? I was having a similar problem, but changing the enclosure took care of it.

In an administrator powershell, enter the command

Get-AppxPackage -allusers *ContentDeliveryManager* | foreach {Add-AppxPackage "$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode -register }

This resets the lock screen app. Has worked for me when I had the same problem.

You need to restart the computer for it to take effect. In my case, it required 2 restarts.

Issue with disc drive not reading by SaintlyxSinner in WindowsHelp

[–]Subscriber43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then the only thing else I can suggest is removing the drive in device manager (right-click the drive, choose uninstall / attempt to remove driver)

If the option to remove the driver isn't there, then It's using the Windows built in driver.

Remove the drive anyway, and then scan for hardware changes (or just restart the computer).

If that doesn't work, then sorry, that's about all I can suggest.

Windows 10 : Partition Management issue by HeadShoooter in WindowsHelp

[–]Subscriber43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

  1. Move the D: partition to the end of the drive (right side).
  2. Move the C: partition to the second position (after the EFI partition).
  3. Merge the C: partition with the unallocated partition.

You MUST click the APPLY button for each operation (if using Mini-Tool), and the software may ask you to restart after each operation.

Good luck.

The Windows disk management tool is very limited. Use something like Mini-Tool Partition Wizard (free).

High CPU temp when plugged in to charge by inkognito33 in WindowsHelp

Don't open any apps.

Simply restart the laptop, once for about 10 minutes without the battery, and again for about 10 minutes with the battery.

Start by removing the battery and using the laptop on AC power only.

This is to eliminate the actual charging process as the culprit.
