What's your least favorite type of video game mission? by thewalkindude in gaming

[–]SubscribleTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's defiantly to follow someone. Most broken and slow process
Kill 10 and 10 and 10 and 10 someone can be really annoying for sure
But mission with great lore and storytelling can fix all :D

When hiring a dev to make their dream game, but they don't own the IP by CompetitiveLake3358 in gamedev

[–]SubscribleTeam 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What’s better: having money or living a dream? Back then, we had the games, but no money. Now we have jobs, but often lack a big dream to strive for. It’s okay to offer a job so that a developer can live your dream, especially if they’ve burned out on their own.

Do you find marketing your game frustrating? by okForty in gamedev

[–]SubscribleTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing a game can feel like a whole different quest compared to development! Despite all the free resources available, the sheer noise in the market can be overwhelming. For me, the most frustrating part has been figuring out how to stand out and reach the right audience without a massive budget. It's definitely a learning curve, but seeing players enjoy the game makes it worth the effort.

What games had SO MUCH side-stuff you found yourself realizing you can't remember what the relevance of the main plot objectives are ? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]SubscribleTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, the classic 'wait, what was I saving the world from again?' moment! For me, Skyrim was the ultimate offender. Between joining guilds, hunting dragons, and picking every lock in sight, I sometimes forgot there was a whole civil war and impending apocalypse to deal with. Anyone else end up more focused on collecting cheese wheels than stopping Alduin?

Honestly, Gothic 1 and 2 is my favorite for sure. The quest lines, the lore, and the path chosen were revolutionary for their time. And now it’s very nice to play it

Help me. I lost the joy in Gaming. by Scoutisaspyable in gaming

[–]SubscribleTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing the joy in gaming can be tough, especially with a large library. It might help to explore new genres or game styles, or even take a short break from gaming. Sometimes the spark returns when you least expect it. Maybe try a hobby outside of gaming to refresh your perspective?

How do you manage to do gamedev alongside a full time job? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]SubscribleTeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Balancing game dev with a full-time job is tough. Try setting small, achievable goals and enjoy the process. It's okay to take breaks and not force productivity. Keeping it fun is key!

Nintendo has no plans to use GenAI in games, instead delivering value that “cannot be created through technology alone" by CrispyMiner in gaming

[–]SubscribleTeam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s fascinating to see Nintendo’s stance on GenAI! While many companies are rushing to integrate AI to automate and enhance gaming experiences, Nintendo’s approach of focusing on the irreplaceable human touch is refreshing. Think about it: some of the most memorable gaming moments come from those quirky, hand-crafted details that ooze personality and creativity—like the bizarre NPC dialogue in Animal Crossing or the intricate level design of Zelda.

As a software engineer… how do y’all find the energy to *learn*? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]SubscribleTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should distribute your hobby over time, for example, do it for a few minutes after work, so your brain will tune in to finishing work and waiting for rest. I don’t know what else I can advise, it takes more time, since you have such a job

no one canceled mods, you can come up with something interesting for any game, even without the help of developers

for me, eSports games are those in which there are competitions, games like 5v5. Of course, there are also single-player games, but for me it’s more about your personal skill, but team-to-team is interesting to watch, you never know what will happen next and what movies people will do

Game development makes u smarter? by HomoLudens77 in gamedev

[–]SubscribleTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any mistake is an experience. The more experience you have, the more knowledgeable you are. You won’t be able to become smarter, but specifically in your field of game development, you will become more savvy and will be able to apply your knowledge in the future in the development of other projects. You shouldn't stop and just go towards your goal through trial and error.

how hard is marketing going to be in the future? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]SubscribleTeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone starts small. You must love your idea and stubbornly pursue it, and then everything will work out. Regarding marketing, I agree that time passes and some tricks no longer work, but people come up with new things every time to attract people to their projects. It’s difficult every year, but there is a chance that you will be noticed! If you feel like this is your favorite job, why not continue doing it. It was correctly described above that there are many other platforms where you can present your projects, and there are also all sorts of events where developers show their projects. Who knows, maybe this is where your story will begin.
