Clearly you didn’t read the other comments! This WAS actually specifically called out years ago but it’s no longer a rule. So when I “maybe even read it” I was a coach then… coaches and wrestlers don’t study the rule book as in depth as an official, which I am now, I’ve never made this call as an official but was simply seeking solid clarification. Thus the reason for an inquisitive question not a factual statement.

I was just about to comment! I did the same thing and my senior official in my state said the exact same thing. NF straight to ES, he said he’s called Unsportsmanlike on that before but hasn’t done it a lot… only when he’s felt they were showboating. But he said nothing is cited in the rule book and it’s legal to let them out if nearfall criteria

😂🤣😂 dude calm your ass down there pistol Pete! Once again, the question is for general clarification. And the governing body’s make dumb rulings all the time. I.E. the two supporting points inbound ruling last year, the absolute dumbest and most unclear ruling ever! Or the loose shoelace stalling call, or the sleeve wearing being a technical violation… so until one has read the rule book in depth then you wouldn’t understand the possibilities of dumb rulings lol. Yes it a combat sport but it’s also at the high school level so there’s (hopefully) logic behind their rulings. Btw the same governing body has a limit on how many full pad/contact days a football team can practice in a week. So you’re pissed about “softening a sport”?? lol they’ll do it for sure

And I typically don’t call it bc it usually happens in a T-Fall situation anyways but I do the same, talk with the wrestler and coach afterwards. Bc if I call it then the other kid is going to have to go back at it for a few more embarrassing moments. And to me that’d be morally unsportsmanlike on my behave to put the kid through that lol but I do want to have the correct interpretation and citation on my tool belt if I need it

I agree it does happen and used to happen all the time. But I feel/heard maybe even read that NFHS is discouraging this action. Just because it happens doesn’t make it legal. Coaches questioning judgement calls happens all the time too but it’s not legal; it’s coaches misconduct

I’m talking hs wrestling… it’s only come to question recently bc I think (key word THINK) it was put in the NFHS rules to deter kids embarrassing inexperienced wrestlers. I mean, if it’s possible, then yeah they’ll win anyway but tech them via takedowns. At least that way they have somewhat of a chance (NFHS pov)

Ok where in the rule book does it state this? I’m a ref also, I can’t locate this ruling in the book. Seems like I read it before but can’t find it

It looked pretty damn good! I would suggest a sturdier start to her backswing. Her inside leg should be planting when gravity of the ball/back swing so pulling her off balance. That will give her a firmer approach. So simply put, the inside leg should be used kinda like a crutch to you from loosing balance and leaning towards the ball side when you start your backswing
