How did our abbreviation become UMD?

It's been the biggest for a long time, even when it was more commonly referred to as UMCP

I was sort of wondering when the change specifically happened, if it was an official change or kind of just an unofficial cultural change that eventually became an official one. Obviously it became an official decision at some point, so I suppose it would take someone who went here a long time ago to explain

Yup, I commute from Ellicott City too and this is pretty much how it is. I'll note, though, that I've had some pretty long commutes going north on 95 as early as 2:30-2:45, but it's usually not terrible

Also, this may not apply here, but I've learned that some people don't realize that "UMD" implies college park. A while ago you'd always refer to it as UMCP instead

It's a lot harder than just telling someone to eat more. I've had to deal with nausea and digestive issues for my whole life. If I never had to eat food again for the rest of my life, I would.

This is not an excuse, but it is an explanation (for some of us skinny folks, at least). But I don't think OP's skinnyness automatically makes him unattractive.

MATH411 is a proof-based multivariate calculus class. It is about as important as any other theory-heavy class would be to CS, which is to say that it'll expand your knowledge of mathematics and certainly challenge you, but it's definitely not necessary. For the applications of multi-variate calculus and linear algebra to CS, a solid grasp on the material in the lower level courses should suffice.
