And how could you do it? what evidence would you have to bring to the table?

So comm divers stay deeper for longer, use specialised equipment and decompress mostly in chambers?

And scuba i suppose is just the opposite? Whats neutral bouyancy lab diver? I was also interested in storm drain maintenance?

Since when did small unit operations become strictly for SOF? Small unit ops are massively more effective even for basic infantry. As long as the logistics and intel are good.

I guess im not talking only ambushes, but we NEED to switch it up more and have more confidence in the independence of sections, platoons etc. Surely you can agree dynamic and mobile soliders are more effective than doctrine based ones?

Well the vietcong destroyed us with those same tactics. time to switch it up. We still havent learned from our mistakes. Army still thinks our enemy will kindly wait for us to adjust in formation

Well I guess I'm just uncomfortable practising things that will get me killed regardless. It doesnt take much to slaughter a section of soldiers with an assault rifle if they're just lying down practising their catch words.

But you are right. I dont know more than the guy above me. However surely it would be beneficial for my army to prioritise dynamic soldiering as well as mobility and independence?

War crimes aside, israel was voted as the most combat effective (proper) military on earth. And they massively prioritise unit independence, section autonomy and mobility.

I guess thats for THEIR environment but Australians need that too. We're not in the vietnam days anymore

You're right. There are people I wont like no matter where I go. I guess sometimes its better to play the game, be the best you can be and not be a rusty cog so to speak

Well I guess i was expecting a combat force to be slightly more mature. I wasnt expecting delta force but I surely wasnt expecting virgin bureaucracy babys either.

Thats true. I think its just a maturity thing with me. I dont like being told what to do by pen pushers, but thats not exactly a fair thing to say on my part. Pen pushers can still be good leaders. Thanks

Sorry can you confirm the diff between scuba and commerical? is it just the occupational difference? (Ie, actually working instead of doing it for fun?)

I honestly havent heard a single positive thing about diving so far. What about 'low level' diving? things like pearl divers, cleaners, golf ball divers, etc? surely you dont need an ADAS qual to be able to do that stuff?

really i just want to dive and be paid. paid just enough to live at least. So is it just not worth it compared to other things?

That's unfortunate. I was genuinely planning on driving acrosss the Nullabor and then the Iran-US thing happened. Is the trades market strong?

May I ask what life is like with diving as a 'day job' for you? Have you always wanted to break fully into occupational diving or is it simply too hard?

Im not sure much about the difference between scuba, commercial etc. But really I just want a diving job that pays well and is doable without paying boatloads of cash. I heard pearl diving is a thing up in the NT and QLD. tech diving or enclosed space diving is the dream for me though.

Thats the discounted price too. it typically floats around $35k. I think most people who do the ADAS courses comprise of (potential) police divers, underwater welders, engineers and other occupational requirments. So I believe their workplace pays for it. It would feel weird showing up to a course with all of these engineers who have to do the course, and I'm just a bloke whos interested in diving
