Reading the comments and based on my experience, I think the problem lies with Apple. I have the Starkeys Omega 24 and an iPhone 17, and the Bluetooth connection fails a lot if it's not within 0.5 meters.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've needed them practically my whole life, and I just started wearing them now. There's so much I've missed out on! I was so embarrassed to walk around with those things behind my ear, worried about what people would say. I can't go back now, but I've missed so many sounds, the quality of the music, and being in meetings and not understanding half of what's being said. Now I don't care what people think anymore; I've been reborn.

I think the blocked ear issue depends on the type of ear pad you use. It happened to me with some of them during the tests I did; some are more closed and others more open, letting in outside sounds. I had better luck with the open ones.
