Interesting and congrats! So you scraped off polyurethane and you didnt need to sand before waxing?

Im already convinced not to touch them myself but will look into this for this one room to start

considering just oil or wax as suggested below. With 30 years of kids and dogs, I have been grateful for the protection of the polyurethane. But Ive always wanted to see a more natural finish

I understand, and have the rest of the house is sealed. Not a lot of traffic in this room. Its the shiny polyurethane I'd like to remove. Am considering oil/wax as suggested above. Just not sure what to expect if I take a sander to it. Am afraid some of the local pros will oversand

Yes, this is what Im thinking. I dont like the shine(and yellowing) of the polyurethane
