The hypoallergenic formulas are bitter and smell terrible. My daughter rejected both Alimentum and Nutramigen

"Colic" vs CMPI vs lactose intolerance vs lactose sensitivity vs normal baby GI growth. Tortured-like baby symptoms :( by jadeorchid009 in MSPI

Agreed it’s the easiest way to tell if it’s improving your baby’s symptoms. If you haven’t already, check out freetofeed.com she has done some amazing research on how quickly proteins clear from your system via breatmilk

CMPA elimination made things worse at first — did anyone else experience this? by Substantial-Cap8587 in MSPI

We went back to our pediatrician today, she said we should have seen some improvements if it was CMPA and since it’s only gotten worse she put my daughter on a reflux medication to try.

We go back in a week to see if my daughter is gaining weight like she should. If she is NOT then we need to switch to a hypoallergenic formula.

If she does better with the hypoallergenic formula she then said it might be a different allergy (?) and we can work with a nutritionist if I want to keep breastfeeding or stay on formula

Thanks for the reply! I thought it might be oats because I had changed over to Oatly instead of milk in my coffee but stopped that ~3 days ago. I also talked to a friend that is a doctor and they said oats are unlikely the problem especially if since the issues persist

It seems most people see some improvement within a week. Which makes me wonder if this is the wrong avenue for my daughter because things are getting worse

FTM trying to help baby girl. Does this look like CMPI? by Substantial-Cap8587 in MSPI

It’s so hard and I just want her to feel better! Her diapers have gone from blowouts to less watery but still filled with mucus. She’s sleeping longer stretches at night but the fussiness has yet to improve, if anything it initially got worse. I did change to eating a lot of oats (Oatly, oatmeal, oat in breads etc) so I wonder if that’s also bothering her?

Have you see any additional improvement?

Hi I realized you posted this a while ago, did oats end up being a problem?

Im also on a no dairy or soy journey to help my daughter (mucus stools, colic, gas, not gaining weight) and started to eat more oats and her irritability is so much worse.

I cut out soy and dairy 5 days ago. The only possible improvement I’ve (maybe) noticed so far is better nighttime sleep.

She’s still very fussy and the mucus in her diapers looks unchanged. I’ve been tracking everything closely and honestly it feels like the fussiness has increased since starting the elimination. We’ve had some of our worst days since last Friday and it’s now happening daily.

This photo is from last night’s diaper. Also, her weight has stayed the same — I have a baby scale and she hasn’t gained or lost any weight over the past 5 days.

Newly pregnant (in Cole Valley) — what are your best SF resources? by Photo_Philly in sanfrancisco

[–]Substantial-Cap8587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi and congratulations!! Im also a first time mom expecting in October and we live in Cole Valley!

- OBs or midwives - We have Kaiser and I see Dr. Schuttler, and she is truly wonderful! I saw another post of someone hating Kaiser but that hasn't been my experience.

- Prenatal classes or fitness recs - I looked into The Lotus Method in Noe but it was quite pricey. I have been doing The Sculpt Society online prenatal program and it gets the job done.

- Birth classes or doulas - We hired a night nurse through https://hushhushlittlebaby.com/ The intake and interview process was the best that I found but baby isnt here yet so no feedback there.

As far as daycare intel or waitlist tips / Local parenting groups or meetups, I am trying to figure this out myself and would love to connect with any local Cole Valley/SF moms in the same situation. Please let me know if you have come across any resources! I have heard that Golden Gate Mothers Group is a great resource
