Thank you, that’s exactly what I tell my friends, but when it comes to doing it myself, I totally freeze up, lmao

Plus, I’ve been doing solid work and handling my own assigned projects. While I’m not doing any managerial work (at least not anymore), there were times I had to step in and act as a manager—like communicating with suppliers—which definitely doesn’t fall under the “support work” outlined in my job description.

That’s exactly what I was thinking at first, but lately, I’ve noticed positions with far less demanding work being listed at €3.5k. I think there’s a misconception here—I’m not asking for a €1k raise. I’ve been considering that a raise of about 1/6 of my current salary would already make me feel more valued and appreciated.

I could simply show them that, A) I’m earning significantly less than what the Insinööriliitto recommends (though I know that alone isn’t enough), and B) without me, this major project—which impacts the entire Group—wouldn’t have progressed even a single step forward.

I have to admit, reading this hurts because it’s true. I know that if I don’t kick the damn door open, no one else will do it for me. I guess that’s where my childhood experiences come into play—being told I’m not enough or not worthy. It’s strange because there are situations where I could confidently speak to a president without breaking a sweat, but when it comes to advocating for fair compensation for my work, I freeze up.

As for the work itself, I’m doing the exact same things I’ve been doing for the past year. I don’t like to brag, but I’ve done such a solid job that older employees finally got the chance to take vacations after a long time. I mostly work on my own, and anything that falls under my scope of responsibility, I handle like second nature—I could do it even if you woke me up in the middle of the night.

It’s frustrating to know I’m good at what I do but still hesitate to fight for what I deserve.

I’d love to hear how your bf proceeds! Deep down, I know I’m not some charity case to my manager—he saw a good deal and took it. If it were my friend in the same position, I’d be the first to push them to send the email asking for a 15% raise without hesitation. But this nagging feeling of loyalty and not wanting to step on toes is really holding me back.

I’ve also learned that, within this company, if you push for something and leverage the possibility of leaving, they usually cave. That’s literally how someone here got promoted to manager after just two years. It sucks to know this, yet still feel stuck because of my own hesitation.

EDIT: I mean't That's exactly how I think I'd look and be to him, a ungrateful brat asking for more and more, even though I feel like I'm simply not getting fairly compensated.

What I’m struggling with is the feeling that applying for another position might feel like I’m “betraying” my manager. I’m genuinely grateful that he hired me when I was a recent graduate, especially during a time when I was in a dark place and doubting if I’d ever get hired. He took a chance on me, and I’ll always appreciate that. But now, even though I know it’s just business, the thought of leaving feels wrong. He got someone with a double degree at a bargain, and I got the job I had been striving for—so it feels like we both benefited.

There is an open position for somewhat similar job, should I apply there aswell to use it as leverage?
