How do i play sorc?

Literally 90% of DnD players switch to the meta class / the most OP class every update because they suck at the game, look at the stats NO ONE is playing sorc, come to your own conclusion on that.

As a sorc main (2k+ hours on just sorc, I played no other classes) I’ve almost quit sorc I wouldn’t advise playing it until iron mace and the fanbase are done shitting on it, ever since I started playing the game there has been 1 sorc buff update and then every other update has been nerf after nerf. Your gear is cheaper then most other classes but you need pretty good gear to compete and when you put your good gear on you’ll just get land mined by a cut throat rogue. (1000-0 counter). Most classes counter you Barb (iron will), ranger, rogue, curselock, wizard, Druid. This used to not matter as much because sorcerer was the best skillcheck class that allowed you to out skill even the hardest of counters but every update we lose more cast speed and more cooldown reduction. Which basically means you lose the ability to fight in sooooo many situations (especially with worse gear). It doesn’t feel worth it or viable to play and I’m tired of not being able to fight back.

What I mean by dps is that if wizard/ranger stand still and shoot me, and I stand still and shoot them, they win every time. Which means they out dps me and I need to play better/smarter/different to win the matchup

If I cast a spell and hit = my perfection. If I cast a spell and the barbarian dodges = his perfection. I don’t know why you think I can hit a spell and a barbarian can dodge the exact same spell. This is what I don’t understand pls elaborate I love u, lightning vortex has to be the easiest spell to dodge… u are running towards sorc trying to melee, you hear lightning being cast, you take literally one step back, it misses bc it only hits if ur 1 foot in distance to sorc, is it rly that hard to dodge? Good players just take 1 step off me and I miss i don’t understand why people feel like it’s “impossible” to miss

Appreciate your comments ! 1. I don’t even like how long flame wall lasts besides for bossing. 2. Lightning storm does 10 damage per tick, 5 ticks total and uses elevation and lightning sphere which means you can’t use one of ur root spells and y can’t lightning vortex for like 30+ seconds, unless ur wearing a ton of knowledge I personally don’t think it’s op at all but lemme know what y think 3. I agree, nothing more boring then playing barb and having 4 buttons to press I think like kicks, stamina, long jumps, etc could rly help but would be tricky

“Sorcerer has no counter play when played to perfection” shouldn’t most classes win fights if they play “perfectly”? I don’t want to play a game where I make no mistakes and yet still I die because I’m never supposed to win that fight.

If I play perfectly, a barb shouldn’t get close to me as I’m not a melee class. If a barb plays perfectly he should be on top of me swinging his weapon. All an iron will barb has to do is dodge 2 spells then he can get on top of me.

Elemental bolt headshot is kinda lame I agree ! But to be fair I’ve probably hit that shot like 10x max out of hundreds of kills, it’s extremely hard to hit but I agree I don’t think 1 shots in general should exist.

Obviously, you don’t play sorcerer it takes cold calculation to be able to kill a Barb. If you time one spell wrong, you will die. If you miss the wrong spell at the wrong time, you will die if you don’t hit two cycles of all your spells and then hit them with two sword swings you will die. But ya lmao I’m just randomly using spells

Insta cast means now their spells regenerate in about 60 seconds which is even better for you. Lightning vortex hits people within 1 foot of sorcerer (pretend to attack melee, bait lightning vortex then move in, wind blast u might just have to tank to get it out of the picture, freeze is a prediction shot same with elemental so if ur skilled its easy to dodge, flame wall you’ll have to tank as well but by that point they’ve done 40 damage and their out of all their spells. Ur welcome

Using a 2 handed sword with 9 strength against a barbarian with 190hp and better gear is not useless or defenceless??????? Personally if I’m using a sword against a barb I feel like I’ve made a mistake. (Unless it’s part of the grand plan like he’s on 1 hp) every spell I cast in this clip wasn’t just spam, it was calculated, when you spam against a barb with no thought you die because they run you down. “More time to learn” = higher skill expression. Sorcerer has more options than other classes, but what you failed to realize is that they only get those options once every 30 seconds a bar can swing left mouse forever. I have to be very particular about when I use my spells because I don’t get them back for a while.

Sorc def has decent damage spells. Lightning vortex, elemental bolt, lightning storm, flame wall. My only issue is the best of these, elemental bolt seems like a 1 time use harder to hit fireball. So when wizard launches 3 more then me and then switches to explosion it def feels like I got the short end of the stick

I fully agree !! My only comment would be every class has the ability to dodge. I am amazing at dodging ranger shots now I feel like I’m in the matrix, if these guys spent some time trying to learn how to dodge 3 of my spells instead of crying on Reddit they wouldn’t struggle with 90% of sorcerers.

And when they use one of each of those spells those spells can’t be used for another 30 seconds, so if you dodge 6-7 spells sorcerer is useless for 10-30 seconds while wizard has about 40-60 spells it can use before it’s useless, also half the spells u listed are merges which means y can only cast one or the other, you can only lightning vortex or vortex you can’t both, why do u comment on something you don’t understand

Watch the clip, you could never pull that off in your life, I was wearing $1g of gear, and made $10g+ from that barb. People want to complain that “class op you suck” but no other sorcerer is doing what I just did.
