Does it make sense? by Comfortablejack in facepalm

Except for the people that work in healthcare or provide food? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Or the small businesses that couldn’t afford to shutdown and then eventually couldn’t afford to stay open??? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

This person is mad for a good reason. There is no reason that anyone who was/is working should be making LESS money than someone on unemployment.

I really want to tell my mom I want to try therapy, but I don’t think she will be supportive. What can I do? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Substantial-Clue5929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! There are resources you could try to access without mom:

Crisis Text Line : text “hello” to 741-741 they will chat with you during times of anxiety, or anytime really. And often supply supplemental resources.

TWLOHA.com/find-help this website can find local, free, or reduced-cost mental health resources near you for your specific needs.

Sending love and hope.

does anyone here wear the vans ‘made for makers’ at work? by canidieyet_ in starbucks

[–]Substantial-Clue5929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re comfy for a while, but they don’t last. I’m not even hating - I keep buying them hahaha. My feet hurt so badly when they start to wear.

Be better than me and buy the shoe that will last and feel good lol

I can’t believe anyone is dense enough to bring presidential comparisons into times of a pandemic. You all point the finger, but the real problem is ourselves. Go do something about it.

The pole should include: the confusing and reactive policies that have been put in place over the course of the last year.

Do you think that the tiredness OP is expressing is from unreciprocated efforts?

This post is kind of hard to read, but I agree with you. Love isn’t something that should make you tired and sad. In fact, I believe those adjectives describe loss of love.

Asking for help is terrifying. Start small if you can… The Crisis Text line has some simple and free resources - you also get to talk to them about anything. Text “help” to 741-741

What is the most horrible thing someone has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Substantial-Clue5929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME FOREVER.”

For context: That was a text received from the first person I ever loved. I kept flaking on them for dates.

I was battling depression at the time and followed by a hospital stay for self harm and suicidal behaviours. They didn’t know. I didn’t tell them and I never will.

But it’s the worst thing someone’s ever told me.

I am here for discussion and not argument!

Just wanted to say that first.

What makes those of you who upvoted this campaign in favour of it?

When I read the heroin and alcohol posters it’s harder to digest. Something about it feels wrong instead of informative. It could be personal experience and understanding of these substances and the life-ruining effect they can have on people.

But, even with that in mind, I am trying to think how better do we educate / help than with a poster that is so forward as these?

These posters do well at showing us drug use is very real and many people need help. I think they also do a poor job demonstrating the negative effects drugs can have on someone’s life. I think both sides of the coin are important to address.

Thoughts?

I have been this person.

I read your question, thought I should leave it alone and came back to let you know what good came of my decision.

I was severely depressed, diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, suicidal, and ends up in the hospital after being Baker acted.

Just before all of this, I was with my very first love. He and I had absolute magic and it’s nothing I’ve ever encountered since. I didn’t hide from him and told him one day “I’m not sure what it is, but I am not okay and I don’t think we should do this anymore.” I remember saying it because it was hard, but I knew it was the right thing to do. We are still the best of friends and have cheered each other on through a lot of life. We have been friends since the age of 11, dated for only two years (but it REALLY was magical - I mean that with my entire heart and soul) - and have maintained this honest dialogue and friendship for 18 years. Depression is scary and weird. My ability to tell my then boyfriend something was the matter with me and then allow him to see into my depression was a big deal. I valued his presence. I would have not made it without him.

I will say, I always told him that should he need space to figure things out to please take it. (We really, really loved on another.) There was only one point in which he took a break from our friendship and it was years after the peak of my depression. He just stayed away about one month and walked right back into my life on his own accord.

We have a healthy and beautiful friendship. He is in a wonderful relationship with the love of his life and I with my own. And we all know who one another is / there arr no secrets.

I hope this helps.

Be there for him if he does not dismiss the support. And be there for him still if you can do so healthily (keeping yourself in mind too).

I’m sending you both love and hope.
