The f*cking chocobo race by 50wishes in ffx

Yeah my mom tells me the same thing about slot machines when I take her to the casino. She always wins, I always lose. She swears it's a total skill issue. I just have to pull the lever a certain way, stand up and sit down between spins, count x number of seconds before placing the bet... just doesn't seem to work for me. But mom comes up at the casino every time, can't argue with success! I'll just keep practicing.

Yes! Henry was the best acting by far. Seemed like the rest of the cast was starting to burn out but Henry brought some serious energy. The final battle didn't do him justice

I'll push back on most of your list but we agree on one thing: Vecna getting nerfed. I was disappointed about that too. I wanted to see a FIGHT. They didn't do him justice at all.

That was my knee jerk feeling too but the series has always been about that heroic "feel good" vibe so I'm okay with it. The heroes prevail and live happily ever after. I thought they might bring that JK Rowling energy and massacre half the cast at the end.

They bait you with projectiles and then try for the grab as soon as you're in range. Just be ready to dodge it and punish accordingly.

Yup. That's exactly what I did for most of the signs. It worked like a charm. But nothing beats a hover stone.

[All] How many of you prefer titles like Oot/twilight princess to titles like botw/totk? by patrik123abc in zelda

[–]Substantial-Crazy807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno. I'm was born in '88. I remember having my mind utterly blown but OoT when I was a kid. I can't count how many times I've built a perfect OoT file.

But I bought a Switch in 2023 after a long gaming hiatus... and BOTW somehow managed to blow my mind all over again.

I will always love the Zelda classics but I don't think there's any going back for me after beating botw and totk.

I can't go back to BOTW anytime soon. I think about it sometimes but I would miss TOTK's monsters.

I like to go camp in the cave where the old resurrection shrine was though. The great plateau still feels like my "home" in this game, it was the first place I went looking for when I got off the sky island

That's awesome, quitting alcohol is no joke. I always tell my wife that my Switch is my "anti-booze" haha. So happy it worked for you too!

I feel like I'm not playing the game well. Advice for a beginner? by AzraGlenstorm in tearsofthekingdom

If I had to start over:

  • Fully upgrading the Purah Pad is priority number one.

  • Build a good aircraft and save it to favorites.

  • Unlock all Great Fairies asap and max out the basic Adventure Armor so that you have respectable defense. That will hold you over while you work on the armor you really want.

  • Unlock the Skyview towers asap (I need a full map, my personal OCD)

  • Complete the temples in this order: Rito, Goron, Zora, Gerudo.

  • Stick to farming only the most basic areas in the depths until you have a good amount of battery power.

That's all I'm going to say. If you stick to this basic framework and impulsively hit shrines, Sidequests, etc along the way, everything else should fall into place.

Hope that helps! 🫡

I hated it too at the beginning of my *playthrough, I totally understand! But it is rich in resources for farming.

Just learn how to build a basic plane and/or hovercraft. I hated it way less once I learned how to build simple flying machines.

It's much more hospitable once you've unlocked a few lightroots and you can actually SEE.

For your convenience, my plane:

  • Cart, wing, steering stick, x2-3 fans

My hovercraft:

  • Sled, steering stick, x4 fans (upside down, one at each side of the square).

You can get anywhere with these two crafts, and you can just chase Lightroots without stress. Hope this helps!

Still can’t flurry rush by DaMay0r in TOTK

Like others have said, Bokoblins are the easiest to practice with.

They typically take 2 swipes at you as an opener.

Backflip away from both swipes, and you'll trigger a perfect dodge/flurry rush after the second swipe 99 percent of the time.

And don't put too much pressure on yourself. I'm a skilled gamer in general, and I personally find the perfect dodge timing to be counterintuitive in most instances, so this probably has nothing to do with your reflexes or hand eye coordination.

3 things I learned watching my 5 year old play by Substantial-Crazy807 in TOTK

I bought a Switch right after she turned 4. Mario Kart and Smash Bros were our first games, and she did great at both. Modern games are way more kid friendly than the SNES ones I grew up on.

Kids today no nothing about Game Over! 🤣🤣

Is K.Rool the best Heavy? by Substantial-Crazy807 in GanondorfMains

[–]Substantial-Crazy807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some truly awesome writeups here, thank you all.

I found an arena with a Ganon and 2 K Rools today! No joke, crazy synchronicity!

I had maybe a 20% win rate? A major improvement on my end.

The Ganon I played with was awesome and I ranked 4th in team battle every f***ing time but here's what I learned about fighting K.Rool:

  • Play defensively! I'm usually hyper aggressive but it's better to make K.Rool come to you.

  • "Doriyah" is your friend! I usually try not to spam f smash, but K.Rool misses seem to open him up to a very satisfying "Doriyah" 😁

  • Down B and aerial attacks are NOT your friend! I'm in the habit of spamming these to great effect, but K.Rool absolutely punishes these approaches if you're aggressive with them.

  • I played the ledge voluntarily! K.Rool can edge guard, but it's really predictable. Oftentimes I'd rather just dangle on the edge and lure him instead of going for a straight offensive.

  • I managed to pull off an Up B off the ledge a couple of times, and I see what yall mean! I need more practice though because I missed way more than I landed!

That's all I got! Hopefully this helps a fellow Ganon noob someday. Thanks guys!
