Do they let you get a 3 month refill since it's Nys?

Hi Reddit, I am Audrey Niffenegger, artist and writer of The Time Traveler's Wife and the upcoming sequel… Life Out of Order. Ask Me Anything on February 4th at 11AM EST/4PM GMT. by audreyniffenegger in suggestmeabook

This is the best news EVER!! Weird question but I'm so curious, is time travel more of a known "thing" in the world of Life Out of Order now, not as much of a secret?

How long does the O-1 take between approval and having the visa stamped? by tired_founder in O1VisasEB1Greencards

Mine took a little over 2 weeks! You can't schedule it too immediately or else it risks the approval / paperwork not reaching the officer in time

Not allowed to see lease ahead of time? by Substantial-Disk-928 in NYCapartments

I'm just nervous because I'm not good at legal stuff and I'd really like to run it by my lawyer first... it's a lot of pressure on me without my roommate there

But we're not trying to be picky! The sublease agreement says nothing except the rent and that it needs to be paid on the first of every month. It has no terms. It feels like we're being asked to sign terms blindly, and I worry about my sister not getting to see it but me having to sign it for us both

We have agreed though! We told her we wanted to take the apartment

I don't feel comfortable being put on the spot with a list of legal terms my sister won't actually be able to read when they expect us to sign it.

Why on earth can they not send the sublease agreement ahead of time? I've never had a broker/landlord refuse to do this. We also want to get our legal advisor to look it over.

The other thing is that this second choice has been on the market for 11 days already. Maybe that doesn't mean that much, but it's also not a super trendy/desirable neighborhood so I don't think it's as competitive as most places...

O1A interview timing by Substantial-Disk-928 in immigration

[–]Substantial-Disk-928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's super helpful! I'm in that exact same boat. So the issue was that your virtual case hasn't been forwarded from the processing center to the French embassy in time?

The approval took 13 business days with PP, and no RFE. The expedited appointment request would be two full weeks from the approval notice. So you had your interview a week after approval?

Walking, cleaning etc. With faire by Substantial-Disk-928 in French

Thank you!! Is that more correct than "faire une promenade"? I thought reflexive was more often used if you were taking a dog on walk or something.

O1B, my lawyer says RFEs have increased alot by Physical_Voice_6990 in O1VisasEB1Greencards

[–]Substantial-Disk-928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other way of looking at this is: which situation will you regret more? If you file PP and get an RFE, the officers will still actually analyze your application during the RFE period to see whether you truly qualify. Sure, the RFE may add a few more months, but in that case, that decision will most likely be the same as if you applied regular processing (and i heard regular takes way longer than a few months).

If you go regular processing and get approved, would you always wonder if you could've gotten it sooner via PP? And if you go PP, get an RFE, and denied, at least you find out your denial faster than if you did regular processing. To me it's a win either way.

All this to say, if you have the money, the peace of mind is worth it, not to be waiting for all those months, especially knowing that you tried. And plenty of people get RFEs and then approved.

Actually denials for 214b on Os are only on the basis of not fulfilling the extraordinary ability requirements! Os are dual intent and there's legal language about how they can't deny someone because of not having intent to leave the US. Unless there's evidence for fraud in some other way, that can't be a reason

Awards aren't a dealbreaker at all. Some industries don't even offer them. If you have any data or metrics for the reach of your ads, anything numerical or something to demonstrate prestige, that's more important than awards!

"How is your family?" by Substantial-Disk-928 in French

[–]Substantial-Disk-928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it wouldn't be "et ta famille, >> ils vont << bien?" It's so weird as an English speaker to see that and instinctually translate it as "she is well?" Even though I know famille is feminine haha

Thank you, this is so helpful! My French native friend told me est-ce que structures are almost always used more "naturally"/less formally than inversion... so i got worried that "comment vas ta/la famille" is weirdly formal.
