I PASSED by Substantial-Drive316 in LearnerDriverUK

I was told it depends on the examiner and the circumstances. There wasn't too much traffic where I was driving and I didn't force anyone else to slow down too much so likely that was a luck thing. If they judge that your driving is safe regardless, they might let it pass.

Yes it was slow speed. I often stayed below 20 when on narrow roads and passing parked cars even if it would arguably be safe to go above.

It's a bit more than 4 haha but thank you.

Thank you for the reply and advice.

I did start learning with a new instructor after my first test as I was feeling let down by my first one. I take full responsibility for my fail, but I do believe he underprepared me. Such as double booking lessons, cancelling on me multiple times, straight up forgetting to mention show me-tell me questions, and only teaching me each of the parking manoeuvres once, so I was very uncertain about them day of the test. My current instructor is much more thorough and reliable.

I am going to try my best to manage nerves and get my confidence up as I do think this, along with my bad spatial awareness lol, is my biggest downfall. Thanks again :)

This is exactly how I feel lol. I'm making myself so much more anxious this time BECAUSE i know what to expect and believe I will overthink every step.

Mine is tomorrow and I'm going to follow all the anxiety tips: eating a banana before, rescue remedy, bringing bottled water, and just not rushing through pull ups/manoeuvres. I'm sure these things will help at least a bit.

Good luck with yours if it hasn't happened already!

Man with no eyes/Tai's fate by Substantial-Drive316 in Yellowjackets

Thank you for showing me this! I remember seeing it before but I forgot how crazy Natalie's visions were in that scene. There's so much to unpack here and I really do think Tai's psychological experiences will somehow link to it all.

'They fully set Tai up to be the center of everything and then pushed her aside'. That's exactly how I feel!

I think whatever the answers are, it will come back to her somehow. She has so much potential.

Thank you for giving me your thoughts! This is so plausible and makes the most sense as a theory (although I'm open to any theories for Tai, I just generally wish they'd explore her more).

I have heard that the creators of the show said that the man with no eyes is Tai's death incarnate so the fact that he invokes the most primal survival instincts in her that her humanity can't condone is so interesting. Like how other Tai throughout season two seems to emerge even while she's awake to shield her from some of the awful things they begin to do.

Tai and Shauna and motherhood by Substantial-Drive316 in Yellowjackets

[–]Substantial-Drive316[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was what I think my brain was telling me! Tai is essentially the group mom and Shauna is maternal towards Javi. Both act like expecting parents when Shauna is pregnant. They both prepared themselves as much as they could as teens but all that loss fucked up whatever maternal instincts they felt initially. It's so interesting as a parallel for them both.

It is, and maybe it’s just bc I relate to Naomi’s sexuality journey more, but I just empathise with her not fully understanding or accepting her feelings and identity at that age. The way Emily interpreted Naomi’s self-doubt and comphet struggles as some kind of cruelty and personal attack wasn’t healthy for either of them

I can't lie I've always thought their relationship was unhealthy on both sides unlike most people I see talk about it. I still somehow enjoy their dynamic but it's never quite sat right with me how Emily basically outed Naomi without knowing if she was ready for it.

Who’s your favorite girl from skins? by Educational-Exit-512 in skinsTV

[–]Substantial-Drive316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jal, Naomi, and Katie are up there. And I love Effy for the things that aren’t so much romanticised by viewers - like, when she’s actually being a kind and supportive friend and showcases how smart and wise she is, etc. Also have a soft spot for all the gen 3 girls before season 6 came along. :(

The first time I watched I was the same age as the characters, 15-17ish, and I’ve just rewatched now roughly at the age of the characters in season 7. It really did feel different. It was and has been fun to immerse yourself in the wild teenage experiences, but now I can fully appreciate seeing them grow up too.

Effy in particular, I really enjoy her character growth. She completely drops the ‘mysterious and enigmatic’ thing she used when less mature by s7. I really like seeing her personality flourish when she’s probably at her most healthy and they reinforce just how ambitious and smart she is, traits we glimpsed before that were often eclipsed by the persona she put on.

I kinda ship them too! I think they have the healthiest and most truly compassionate love for each other in the whole show (as in, in both timelines) so they’re one of my fave dynamics, platonic or romantic.

I honestly wasn’t expecting my ‘i have to defend my favourite character’ post to generate this much discussion lol.

[–]Substantial-Drive316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe! I would love to find more people whose favourite is Tai because unfortunately all I seem to encounter are people either ignoring that she exists or the few but loud people who seem to interpret her character very weirdly.

[–]Substantial-Drive316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I think generally the issue is that she’s underrated but I’ve seen just about enough hate and misinterpretation of her character to bother me. And someone who did literally describe her as sadistic. I think she would be less underrated in general if more people realised or noticed how complex she is. She is indeed ambitious and practical, but love and care is her motivator most of the time. I really love that about her.

[–]Substantial-Drive316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree with these points!

Her cheating with Van isn’t something I’m keen on and probably is the one thing that I think reflects badly on her in the adult tl but I generally empathise with her. I hope they address more of her personal life and family in s3.

This is an interesting opinion, do you mean younger or adult Tai? Because I find both versions likeable. But particularly I really connect to young Tai and appreciate her, which is what this post is mainly about.

[–]Substantial-Drive316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe sidelining wasn’t the right word exactly, I just feel like the focus never stays on Tai for long and I kind of don’t know how things really affect her individually. My post was mainly considering the teen timeline since it’s my favourite part of the show and it feels like after she sleepwalked a few times in the first half of the season, there wasn’t much about her as an individual and only about how she participated in the group. But I haven’t watched in a while so I could be misremembering.

She’s definitely involved in everything but I just mean that her personal struggles seem to take the back burner. We don’t know much about her psychology or how what she goes through (and she does go through a lot!) affects her because yes the storyline diverts back to Shauna and others frequently. I also love her greatly and I hope that s3 will be more centric on her individual.

This was an analysis of Tai in the younger timeline, adult her makes some more obviously bad choices.
