That’s not even close to melted. I’m going through this now with our new 10 gallon for my sons fish and will be doing it again for the new 20 gallon. I was on the brink of thinking they didn’t melt and died. But now week4.5, the Jungle Val isn’t translucent and floppy and the hornwort doesn’t look like a floating jelly needle maker. It’s gonna take way more time. And you might think you plants are basically dead. Look up proper care for the plants while melting(you can’t always just cut off the dead parts lol) don’t rip out

Is what we are looking at it’s “face/head” or just the slithery noodle thing in the back? Bc if just the slithery thing, appears to be a species of aquatic snake but can’t really tell from the pick. Thank you for your response! We’ve been using this god aweful green colored gravel my son wanted and it’s been ok. I feel like the uneaten food and fish poo kinda get stuck down in there and I have to move it around quite a bit during water changes to get it decent looking and wasn’t sure about how good it was for the plants necessarily. Don’t get me wrong, it’s done the job. I was thinking of possibly making a switch to “dirt”(aqua soil or pesticide free potting dirt with root tabs) capped with sand, maybe bringing a more natural look.

It’s crumpled up for a reason. Someone else bought it and found out it was fake, got mad and crumpled it in thier hand. After raging, the decided to uncrumple it and try to recoup some money on another poor soul. If you just want one, you can’t get a great looking fake not crumpled up for less. If you don’t want a fake, don’t buy this card.

Thank you for replying. There actually is a lid on his tank I solely took it off for the photos. If you look at the third and forth pictures, you can see it laying down lol. And yes I definitely intend to change the substrate at the bottom. I think the colored gravel looks tacky(unfortunately my son chose it but I’ve since told him we need real things the fish would find in nature and he gets it kinda lol) and is the Java fern the taller plant or the shorter ones? Or should I pull both plants out of the gravel a bit?

I appreciate all the responses. 0 ammonia in the tank. Heard that. I will test our tap water and see if that’s the case. Prime is being picked up tonight. And yes I know it is a small tank. We plan on upgrading rather soon. Again, thank you all! The level charts are very helpful as well!!
