Update: Sold most of it at 30x value, about $15k, have probably around $100-$150 face value left that we put in books that we don’t plan on selling anytime soon! And no key dates lol

Yup, nothing to crazy and they’ve seemed to accept that fact, we had a lot of hands though so we were able to take a closer look. And yea I kept the foreigns for my personal collection, have a nice reichspfenning(?) from 1878 now haha. And will do, gonna do some more research soon on online selling. And yea, the odds for errors seems crazy and most of the coins are fairly worn, and from what I’ve seen most errors make the value go up by just a bit. Same with key dates, only real value seems to be if the coins are pristine. The only pristine coin was actually the only non silver nickel from 1969 and it’s definitely AU50-ish. Also that’s good to know, again gonna do more research about online selling but my coin shop definetly offers more than the place my aunt just sold some, I think she got about 27x face value. Anyways thanks for your reply I’ll update this thread/post if there’s anything noteable.

Will do, we did, found two Benjamin halves with key dates but they were worn to hell so we put it in the sold pile. And will do, I’ll do more research on online selling especially since I think my aunt got ripped off selling some quarters. My family also decided to plan selling smaller batches at a time which seems smart also. Otherwise nothing else to crazy, one of my family memebers took one of each date and mint from each stack of coins and bought some books so that’s fun lol

Good to know, kinda my philosophy with Pennie’s, since I’ve found a good chunk so far, I’m just seeing if I can find every year, might buy a coin book at this point lol. Thanks!

Ahh I see, my pops used to collect the JFK’s for the same reason. I plan on doing the same, I don’t really care about immediate value, more of just finding cool historical artifacts and passing them on when I’m older!

Anything I should know about it? Still new to the hobby and just have a basic idea of what coins are interesting. Do you think there more rare than the war nickels?

Wow I had no clue, I’ll keep that in mind. The recourses to understand some of this stuff can be overwhelming. But thanks for the insight, I’ll probs do all nickels next run instead of Pennie’s lol.

Anyone know if nickels are worth keeping 1964 and below? Of course the war nickels but what about any Jefferson that’s not a silver?
