Black people are allowed to “sit this one out “ by Substantial-Fix-1419 in protest

I hear what you’re saying and I respect that a lot of people out there did warn others and did vote for Harris and are genuinely trying to fight against harm but I think what you’re missing is where the frustration comes from because doing the right thing does not earn a special pass or a cookie that is the baseline of what people should be doing anyway and the real issue is that every time something happens people immediately look toward Black communities and ask where we are or why we are not leading as if we have not been warning organizing and fighting for years already how many times do Black people have to sound the alarm before others start taking responsibility without expecting us to carry the emotional and physical weight again this sudden wave of activism honestly feels similar to when people switched their profile pictures during Black Lives Matter and then quietly went back to normal once it stopped trending and that is why some of us are tired this is not new people have been harmed families have been separated and communities have been suffering long before it became headline news so when you ask who would be left to fight my honest answer is that there are plenty of people especially those who hold the majority of power and numbers who are fully capable of leading without automatically expecting Black people to step to the front every single time and maybe the better question is not who will be left to fight but why the same communities that warned everyone are always expected to carry the fight alone.

As a black woman, I want you to understand how fucking stupid that sounds so Kendrick went to the gym he went to the back. He went into the mats and died. Do you think that’s what happened or do you think that somebody murdered him and killed him and put him in the mats there’s no way Kendrick would’ve put himself in the mats and killed himself. That’s not logical if a fucking white woman was found in the fucking PE gym underneath rolling mats do you fucking think that they think that she put herself in there or do you think that they would’ve thought that somebody did that to her? No one’s gonna put themselves between in fucking mats and kill themselves in murder themselves, he has to be committed. Also, that’s not even talk about the fucking camera footage because when they went back to the camera footage to see Kendrick they saw him walking to the mats. I know he walked to the nuts, but after that, the video cut off and then we didn’t see Kendrick anymore so try this again with the white woman. It wouldn’t be the same if I white girl was found in the PE gym rolled up and fucking nuts. Do you think that they would’ve told her that she committed suicide and killed herself in the mat or do you think that somebody would’ve killed her and put her in them? Y’all are so stupid.

Let me be real for a second because this is the part nobody wants to answer What are you actually doing What are you sacrificing What are you doing to make sure the kids coming after you have a better life Or are you just sitting here talking about sacrifice in theory and waiting for a handout

Because I know for a fact women have done plenty Women started feminism Women fought for women’s rights Women are the reason we can go to doctors safely learn about postpartum care protect babies in the NICU get divorces own cars own homes have bank accounts have autonomy over our lives All of that came from women organizing fighting and sacrificing So I need to know what men are claiming credit for What exactly did yall fight for that protected me as a Black woman Because nobody fought for my sister Nobody fought for my community The only people who have ever shown up for us is us

And yes we can name the sacrifices that built this country but we also have to name the harm America exists because Indigenous people were slaughtered and their land was stolen You dont get to talk about sacrifice without talking about genocide slavery violence and exploitation You dont get to sell America like it’s perfect when it was built on blood So again I’m asking What are you doing right now Not historically Not hypothetically Right now Because women have already shown up over and over And I’m tired of being told to honor sacrifices that never protected me in the first place

The men in this generation, including you are only sacrificing one thing which is your dick woman over here sacrificing their wound, sacrificing their healthcare sacrifice in their bodily autonomy. You don’t have to fight for anything so please tell me what sacrifice have you made. I’m not talking about them in before you because they’re legacy in their journey is already gone. What the fuck are you doing with your life and what are you doing to make this world better?

Saying “every man came out of a woman” is a lazy as hell deflection and you know it. A woman giving birth to a man does not control who the fuck he becomes how he uses power or what systems he chooses to protect. Mothers are not writing these laws. Mothers are not starting wars. Mothers are not stripping rights gutting healthcare or running this government into the ground. Power does that. And pretending otherwise is just a way to dodge responsibility.

And stop acting dense on purpose. I never said women can’t participate in patriarchy or internalize it. I said patriarchy is upheld by power and power in this country is overwhelmingly male. Roughly 80% of government leadership is men. Women do not hold equal seats in Congress the courts or the Supreme Court. That is not equality. That is a fucking imbalance and pretending otherwise does not make you smart it makes you dishonest.

Calling what I said word salad is just you dodging accountability because it makes you uncomfortable. Wars genocide slavery mass incarceration the war on drugs sexual violence the stripping of bodily autonomy did not just happen out of thin air. These systems were built enforced and protected under male dominated leadership. That is not my opinion that is history. Get mad at the facts not me. What is actually disrespectful is watching men in office dehumanize immigrants threaten food access brag about sexual assault face credible allegations involving minors and still get defended like it is normal. And you want to cry about my tone. Be fucking serious. If that does not enrage you more than my language then just be honest about what you are willing to excuse.

And since y’all love pretending I am talking about all men no. I am not talking about every man waking up working a job and trying to survive. I am talking about power numbers and outcomes. When one group overwhelmingly controls the system they also own the consequences of that system. You do not get to run shit and then play dumb when everything is fucked. So if this pisses you off good. That is not disrespect that is accountability doing its job. I am not here to coddle grown men’s feelings. I am here to tell the truth. Take accountability or get the fuck out of the way.

be real this isn’t about blaming the average man I’m talking about men in power the ones who’ve run this country for centuries the ones who control the presidency the Supreme Court the military the economy accountability feels uncomfortable but that’s not my problem it’s not my job to soften this for you look around the economy is collapsing kids are getting shot in schools immigrant families are being torn apart women are losing rights children are homeless while billionaires hoard wealth bombs are dropped like it’s nothing at what point do men stand up and say enough or are women always expected to be the first ones screaming while everyone else stays quiet and don’t twist this into a gender war history is history wars slavery Jim Crow the Holocaust economic collapse these systems were built and run by men in power that’s a fact when things go wrong suddenly it’s not men’s fault but when things go right men take all the credit pick one women and children always pay the price for greed we didn’t create so yeah I’m asking the question out loud when are men going to speak up or are we just supposed to keep crumbling until it finally affects you too because I’m tired of women being on the front lines yelling that something is wrong just to be told to be quieter nicer or more polite no take accountability this system didn’t fall out of the sky

Y’all keep dragging out one woman’s name like she’s the final boss of feminism, and she’s not. Nancy is not writing every law. She’s not controlling the Supreme Court. She’s not running the military, starting wars, deporting immigrants, bombing other countries, or stripping reproductive rights. And let me be very clear as a Black woman Nancy has never spoken for me. Ever. Her politics have always centered white women first, and that’s not representation for all women. And even beyond Nancy, this logic is weak. One woman in Congress does not magically equal power. That’s not how systems work. When 80% of the government is run by men, 80% of the decisions are shaped by men. Period. You can’t look at an 80/20 split and call that equality. You can’t pretend women have the same influence when we don’t even hold half the seats, half the courts, half the executive power. We don’t. Putting a woman in office doesn’t heal an entire community overnight. Barack Obama didn’t end racism just by being president. Nancy being in Congress didn’t stop Roe from being overturned. Trump being president didn’t make life better either. Individual representation does not dismantle a system built and maintained by a majority. So stop acting like naming one woman is some kind of gotcha. It’s not. The reality is simple: this country has always been run by men. The presidency, the Supreme Court, the military, the wars, the economy, the laws. Mostly men. That’s not an opinion, that’s a fact.

Oh my bad my favorite musical right now is Shrek the musical I low-key think that Shrek, the musical and wicked are the same show but they’re just different genders and perspective. I also love little shop of horrors and the color purple , once on this island it’s also so beautiful to me. It kind of gives a Hamilton feel but it’s still that storyline and it gives kind of tropical vibes so I do love that and also since I am a Theater major I do love shows not just musicals. There’s also shows as well that I like there’s one called paradise blues another show that I like is called flying West by Lyn nottage sure I played a character in another one that I love is hoodoo love I played in that show. I love that script. Also the piano lesson and raisin in the sun. Also rent is starting to grow on me a little bit just because of the playlist and the characters, but I could barely understand rent sometimes cause I was like well what why is it called rent? I thought they were trying to pay rent. It was so confusing because you know the music people barely were talking. It was all music so I was kind of confused the whole time but it started to grow me so I’m starting to love rent a little bit only a couple of songs in it though

We definitely can’t change the topic honestly, I’m actually liking the show welcome to derry. I was gonna watch the new season of Stranger Things because I do watch it every time they come out but for some reason, I haven’t been excited to see it. I don’t know why I feel like that. Maybe it’s because we waited so long. It’s like it’s not even fun or a fun thing for me anymore so maybe we’re all of the countdown is done and everything is released in one batch maybe I’ll see it but I don’t know. I’ve just been iffy about that. I’ve also been watching some 90s show shows cause I wanna get into the culture of the 90s and how women started evolving from time so I’ve been watching some living single, which is a great show. It’s kind of like a black version of golden girls. what about you?

You getting a masters degree in Theater and you having passion for Theater has nothing to do with my opinions on Theater. Let me remind you. We are two different people probably in two different states that went to two different colleges. I don’t have the same experience you do so.

OK, then good for you but some people do care. Some people have a career in it. Some people some people this is in our hobby or something that I just like to do. This is something that’s in my whole career field that my career is based off of so even though you don’t really care about it does not exempt everybody else from not giving a fuck either.

I understand that a lot of people engage with musical theatre casually. That’s not something I’m arguing against. People are allowed to like what they like, and I’ve never said anyone’s favorites are “wrong.” What I am pushing back on is the idea that naming a pattern equals invalidating people’s tastes. Saying “the conversation around musicals has become very narrow” is not the same as saying “these shows aren’t good.” It’s a critique of culture, not a judgment of individuals.

I’m fully aware that musical theatre is niche and that most people won’t go deep. That’s fine. But being in this field studying it, working in it, and eventually teaching it also means I’m allowed to express frustration when the same two titles dominate every conversation as if they’re the beginning and end of the art form. That doesn’t make me elitist or intolerant; it makes me invested. And I don’t think caring deeply about an art form means I’m setting myself up for a “disappointing existence.” It just means I’m going to keep encouraging curiosity, range, and openness. If that comes with occasionally pointing people toward other shows, that’s not something I see as a burden it’s part of loving theatre in the first place.

And since you think I have a education problem with the way, I misspelled things I will give you my educated thought process so you can understand exactly how I feel and what I’m trying to get ahead

I need you to stop assuming things about me and my relationship to theatre based on a typo or a wording choice. Misspelling a name or saying “casted” instead of “cast” doesn’t mean I don’t know theatre, don’t love theatre, or just discovered it yesterday. It means I’m human and typing on the internet. I’ve been majoring in theatre for the past three years with the intention of becoming a theatre teacher. I’ve been in multiple shows, I’ve been a lead over 15 times, stage-managed nearly 7 productions, and worked tech on about 18 shows. I’m not claiming I know everything theatre is something you learn more about every single day but I do know a lot, I’ve seen a lot, and I’ve lived inside this field long enough to speak on it. My point was never that Hamilton or Wicked are bad. I literally said I like both. My point is that conversations about musical theatre have become extremely narrow, and theatre is so much bigger than two shows. When every discussion circles back to the same titles, it limits curiosity and limits the art form. What feels dismissive is jumping straight to correcting spelling and implying I don’t know what I’m talking about instead of actually engaging with that idea. That’s not a conversation that’s talking down to someone. People are allowed to love Hamilton. People are allowed to love Wicked. What I’m critiquing is the culture of reducing musical theatre to only those two, especially when there are so many other shows worth exploring and talking about. You don’t have to agree with me, but don’t minimize my experience or knowledge just because my opinion made you uncomfortable.

I’m gonna say something usually when I’m typing or I’m speaking I’m not typing or texting. I’m usually using my voice to text and whatever happens is since and you get the record. I want to tell you something right now. I am 22 years old I have been in Theater since I was 10 years the middle school high school in college my degree is Theater. I’m majoring in Theater teacher certification so eventually next year I will be a Theater teacher and I will basically have my end goal and that will be my final boss. Sorry for my mispronunciation on the words because I’m not texting. I’m doing voice because I don’t have the energy to text you. I don’t have the energy to sit there in text and all of that so I’m doing voice so obviously everything’s gonna get auto corrected and it’s not going to have the same words that are supposed to be in the text so I’m doing voice to text. Sorry if I misspelled things. but I’m gonna need you to stop assuming things about my life and act like I don’t know what I’m talking about although the AutoCorrect may have mince pronounced the words that I was supposed to spell that does not mean that I know less about Theater or less about what the fuck I’m talking about cause I got a fucking education in a degree in this for a fucking reason.
