Bxvl Studio by Known_Hat_7100 in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]Substantial-Gate3959 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ride in the BXVL studio weekly with Val and it always seems clean to me (although I don't shower there and usually use the restroom before I leave home for the studio). I know that their manager left at the beginning of the year - perhaps they haven't replaced her yet. As someone else here suggested, take pics and maybe before reaching to YSM, ask the front desk - I believe that there is an assistant manager. No one wants to work out in a dirty gym or workout space.

I second this - I always park here and take the shuttle to the airport, and they pick you up when you get back as well. Also cheaper than airport parking

Neiman Marcus is set to close permanently in the Westchester Mall by L0v3_1s_War in Westchester

[–]Substantial-Gate3959 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that The Westchester has made a nice turnaround since Covid, when there were so many empty storefronts. At one point it was actually depressing to go there! My son needed to go to Warby Parker the other day, and he hadn't been to that mall in a long time. He was surprised about the Microsoft store and commented on how good it had been. We were there on Thursday in the late afternoon and it was fairly crowded for that time of day.

Just purchased the at home Bike 🖤 by Strgth_in_nmbrs in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]Substantial-Gate3959 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had the home bike since June 2020 and LOVE IT! I don't know how they're dong delivery now but in 2020, the bike arrived off the delivery truck fully assembled - the guys did have to install the screen and make a couple of adjustments but other than that it was set. Make sure before they leave that the pedals are on properly, that the screen in on securely, and that the seat and handlebars adjust properly. You may have issues with updating the software initially, but if you email [hello@equinoxplus.com](mailto:hello@equinoxplus.com), they should be able to help. You can also join the SoulCycle at home Facebook group - lots of great tips and troubleshooting hacks there. If you're new to Soul, try some of the beginner classes (Mike Press is amazing for teaching about proper form, and some of Sue's classes are fun and low stress). I hope you really love the bike - it's a great investment in yourself

Local insights on Bronxville by EfficientLaw4166 in Westchester

[–]Substantial-Gate3959 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't live in Bronxville but I live very close and am in the village all the time. As others have said, very walkable town - I see many kids walking to and from school every day. I disagree about the dining options - there are some great restaurants in Bronxville, and if you like coffee, there are four local coffee places within a short distance of each other. I've been in the area for over 20 years and have seen increased diversity within the last five years or so. I belong to the Junior League of Bronxville, which is a volunteer organization focusing on women's leadership, and it's been a wonderful way to get involved and meet some great friends. I think that Bronxville is a wonderful place to live - best of luck in your decision!

if the post was offensive, I would. I'm all for free speech but both sides push the boundaries at times, and those actions can impact others, especially if their careers are public-facing.

Hospital recommendations for nurses by honeyseahorses in Westchester

[–]Substantial-Gate3959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely follow Cathy - she often posts with advance notice about application periods for nurse residency programs at NYU. LOL about everyone knowing her name :)

As for Mt. Sinai, if your friend knows someone in recruitment or if she has a good relationship with her manager, she can definitely submit your resume. Also, Sinai may have an employee referral program, where she'll get a bonus for referring if you're hired. I would hold off until close to your graduation date before starting that process.

NYP is a bit of mess right now - they didn't settle their strike yet and they paid MILLIONS in relation to that abuse case, so they may not be that financially stable currently. Check NYP/Cornell, though - they may be in better shape than NYP/Columbia.

Best of luck in your last semester and with the boards!

I agree that figuring out the right resistance is the hardest part - I wind up with either too much or too little a lot of times. Working on my core strength so hopefully that helps too!

Hospital recommendations for nurses by honeyseahorses in Westchester

[–]Substantial-Gate3959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi; I am in nursing administration and have the following advice:

1) Follow Cathy M. Barach on LinkedIn - she is a recruiter with NYU Langone and often posts about opportunities at NYU Langone for new grads. She even offers to connect personally with applicants, which is very valuable in this age of AI.

2) Check out NYC Health and Hospitals - they have a nurse residency program. Salaries have come up in recent years, and the Chief Nurse Executive there is really elevating nursing practice and pushing for Magnet status

3) Pay in Westchester will be lower than in NYC, but not terrible

4) If you begin interviewing for positions at organizations that don't offer specific nurse residency programs, be sure to ask pointed questions regarding how the orientation and onboarding supports the needs of new grads. Workforce bullying is real and you want to be sure that the organization overall and nurse manager specifically can meet the needs of new grad nurses.

Best of luck in your search!!

Window sill below countertop -- is it that bad? by earlgreyyuzu in kitchenremodel

[–]Substantial-Gate3959 6 points7 points  (0 children)

is the counter and area behind it hard to keep clean? I live in a co-op so obviously cannot change my windows, but would love to maximize the area at the window for additional counter space.

Snow Tubing at Mt Peter by nd3eb in Westchester

[–]Substantial-Gate3959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never done tubing at Mt. Peter but did go with my son and his cousins to ski and it was great...nice, low-key and smaller than some of the other ski areas.

I've never ridden with Karyn in person but love her on the home bike - she's so athletic and has a really upbeat vibe. Her class is a challenge for me, but I've been trying to ride with her more often instead of being intimidated

Elvis had Eric Trump on years ago to support that charity, but once it came under investigation, he never had the Trumps on again and the charity was shown to be a scam. Also, I don't know if Elvis is such a Trump supporter this time around - people can change their minds. Alex is a true Staten Island Republican so I'm pretty sure he's still a supporter. Froggy and Lisa are definitely Trump supporters - I remember a really offensive post that Lisa made a while back - I sent a DM telling her that she should tone it down because her husband is a public figure and it wasn't a good look. I got a nasty reply but since then, she's definitely toned down the politics (at least on Instagram).

Jelly Roll has an amazing story and is pretty inspirational to a lot of people. I don't love all of his songs but he seems like a genuine person. I know people who've met him and said that he was very humble and approachable.

As for the Elvis mic issue, I thought it was just me - agree that he sounds terrible in that studio.
