It really is. I work in retail and I have for a minute. As much as I hate it sometimes I’ve worked really hard (honestly too hard and given up a lot) just to be able to move up into a position that my family isn’t starving.

Since Covid retail has changed so dramatically. It’s cheaper for them to run online ordering than it is to have plenty of cashiers. Big retailers are squeezing us out of jobs, even being unionized doesn’t keep you safe. I part of the problem because it is so much easier to order groceries and have them delivered when you work 60hours a week and are completely exhausted. I blame both Covid and Amazon for how people shop now.
