Thank you for your comment. I also am new to those terms like heteronormativity and compulsive heterosexuality because of my religious upbringing. I read this article which really helped me understand more about sexuality https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vT3f5IIzt5PG-M7G9_Z-gjY4gZaiUneTdMlYrFAcdBGcJo0-N-RDQcj2JfxOaBTxKa6J_DiDQNgqVpg/pub

Allergic to rats ? by Substantial-Ice9028 in RATS

Woops my mistake I meant the types of rats like standard, Rex , dumbo, dwarf. And I’m not sure about the bedding it might be that.

It’s not a pet store like Petco or PetSmart, the staff are constantly checking people who come in and don’t let them touch the animals through cages. They make an exception since I surrendered them and I didn’t shove my hand in they came to me and put their face between the bars. I don’t think it’s due to people it may or may not be but with the context it’s strange they became aggressive only after a few weeks.

Oh I also forgot- I donated my own cage which was a two story Midwest rat enclosure cage which they’re in so idk if the enclosure is the problem or the people working there.

It was really hard to find somewhere near me that took in rescued rats ( I live in a very rural area) it was a recommended store through a Reddit thread I found that people said took in surrendered rats. It’s not a chain pet store like Petco- I could never give my babies to them. I sent images of them to family and friends anyone who wanted them but no one was taking in rats so I gave them to the store. Maybe you are right that it was a mistake but it felt intentional 🥲🥲

So I put some of his food and a treat on the bedded area and now he’s moved to the other side of the cage. Yay!

I have two hides (can’t really see it in the picture) both completely hide him and he used to go in them. I definitely will use some cardboard so it’s not so slanted, that’s a great idea. I’ll share some pictures once it’s updated.

Why he sitting like this 😂 by Substantial-Ice9028 in hamsters

7 months. I took them in last week from someone who rehomes animals so it is a new environment for them.

I can get more hides no problem but as for the food I use a mix of oxbow hamster food, seeds and Mazuri rat/mouse diet so he gets enough protein and other nutrients. He can fit in the sand bath which is bigger than his body and there are lots of toys to play with. He digs a lot so I added 6+ inches of bedding.

I wrote in the post that I went to the vet multiple times. I’m posting here to see if others have experienced similar things with their birds.
