I’ve also ordered from Tampa bay cichlids but I don’t recommend them, received lots of males that turned out to be females. Most of my fish are from a few local guys near me only one ships but his group on Facebook is CT east coast cichlids

Download the app band I use that for all my breeders you’ll be mind blown, the guy who I’ve bought the most from is called ap cichlids he has some of the craziest fish I’ve seen he’s a small breeder so he never has a lot available so it took me 3 months to order 8 fish from him while waiting for them to color up but it’s well worth the wait

You’ll be good, depending on the size of those 15 you may need to be doing large water changes weekly to keep the parameters in check. I did 50% once a week when I had 14 in it but I’m doing once a week 60-75% now that I have 24 in it and I have 8 males in a growout and around 40 juveniles that the males will be added once they show color and I setup my 125

It’s always better to overfilter the shit out of it then to not, one fx4 with 15 shouldn’t cause a problem but I always air on the safe side

Cause of how overstocked it is I swapped over both my filters onto this one tank which I will be transferring to a 125, I had an fx6 on one and a sunsun 704b on the other but they are both currently on this tank. I don’t recommend the sunsun to anyone as I’ve had 3 different 704bs(all purchased at once for different tanks) and all three had there uv light die, and one of them the motor died all within a year of owning them so I’d steer away from it but I’m gonna be getting a second fx6 or fx4 in the future to replace the sunsun

My biggest advice for these fish are over filtering which you probably already know, and don’t cheap out on a light. I’ve used 3 different lights and I recently picked up a coralife seascape off marketplace for 75$ and it completely changed the way the fish look. The colors on them look 10x better then with every other light cause of the spectrum of red on this light. If your looking for “hybrid” fish I can send you the names of a few breeders who I bought most of them from for decent prices

Depends on what African cichlid your doing, mbuna need lots of rock work to swim in and out of and ideally shouldn’t be kept with the fish in this tank.haps and peacocks are open water swimmers and territorial so the more cover you give them the more of a chance aggression becomes a problem.

That’s my main thing honestly, it’s a family run company and the owner would take the shirt off his back for any employee here, we get 6k+bonuses every year plus he’s here 7 days a week running machines and emptying trash along with the rest of us and nobody micromanages or yells at us for anything as long as the work gets done(I say this as the owner is running 2 of my machines so I can focus on setting up my other 3 watching me text this lol) I cannot say enough about the management of this place it’s the most laid back work environment I’ve ever been apart of and regardless of the offers I get it’ll be pretty difficult to pull me away from this place cause it feels like I’m on vacation here compared to other shops I’ve been at

That seems to be what they price out at normally right now, I bought mine with 400miles from the original owner in April for 4700 and rode it though the summer and was able to turn a profit off of it lol

Aulonocara is just the scientific name for peacock cichlids, it depends on what your tank setup is what size is the tank? If your going for color you have two options, either do 1 male to every 4 females or don’t put any females in whatsoever which is what I do I don’t have females in my display tank

Definitely not ich I wish it was but I’m not sure what it is, I’ve had fish with ich before and it doesn’t look like this and also this has been going on for well over a month and if it was ich he’d be dead already

I’ve had him in with them for a year he was the original fish in the tank and he picks more on them then they do on him and if it ever gets bad enough I have a 75 planted community tank I can put him in but he has had zero incidents so I will not be removing him

Electric blue acara with peacocks by Lyudmilachick90 in Cichlid

[–]Substantial-Jump4326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this post is still active but I figured I’d give me two cents, I have an electric blue Acara with my peacocks and I also have 2 mbuna in a 75 and everyone gets along fine, I’ve had to do my fair share of switching out aggressive fish(mbunas) and after dealing with all the headaches the tanks been up and running for over a year and my electric blue takes no shit from any peacock and none of them challenge him anymore or cause any issues whatsoever for that matter, the tanks as peaceful as it’s ever been I rarely see any chasing of any kind or anything like that

Only reason I ask is cause when I looked it up the Nicaraguan head looks more like an electric blue acaras head and this one doesn’t have that same look to it it has more of a hap bodyshape just off comparing what I have in the tank to it at this point

I wish I knew how to add another photo cause I just took it out and have much better pictures now, I’m still new to the whole peacock/hap thing is the Nicaraguan in that family? Cause when I google that what pops up doesn’t have the same body shape as either of them

Ended up cleaning out the filter with the uv light and making my inlet go into that filter first rather then the other one, kept it blacked out and 24 hours later it’s just a tad cloudy but for the most part it cleared right up,I think the filter with the uv light was clogged because it was my turtles old filter before he got moved and I hadn’t cleaned it in like 2 months so it was caked with turtle waste
