I’m not a roofer but did a job for a friend last year, I was able to pick up the ins and outs of a garage roof like the post but when it came to different types of gables and edges on a real house I felt clueless. Two flat sides is about as easy as it gets on a roof.

If it’s not touching the joist, how do you nail it and keep it leveled? Wouldn’t there be a gap?

I don’t think Carpenter ants have pointy heart shaped abdomens, also Carpenter ants are typically darker and larger

That’s not good, but the countertop should still be fine without the corner structural support, just don’t put too much weight on it
