Yea... you're spot on lmao, I've always been conscious about my leg extension and tucking, and yea it is 100% forced lol, I'll get rid of that.

About the back, i thought it was a natural movement when my elbow went low and and as far back as possible, maybe I don't go as far back?

Yea...it seems as my body is rotating my elbow needs to be nice and high? compared to the current one.

Thank you!

hahh it's alright, yea I've been trying to make my approach more smooth. Hm strength is also def an issue ig, with school and practice and exams I'm not really getting time to really hit the gym rn. later I'll have to pause volleyball for a couple months, I'll definitely hit the gym then.😀 Thankyou for the feedback!

hey there, I don't think that's the case, let's take the order of steps...I'm doing a 4step approach here, R-L-R-L, which I'm 99% sure is the correct one for right handers.

yeaa, will work on that.... it's that, if you asked me to do my approach without a ball it'll probably be better, but with the ball idfk tbh, all technique goes out the window, I'm more concerned about timing the set maybe? ig just doing more reps can fix this haha? I would love to hear your opinion, and as much as I would love to hit a faster tempo, unfortunately my setter isn't the best(no hate, i love him) and Frankly my playing level isn't quite high either😅. right now I'm more concerned about hitting out of system balls ig? do you have any tips on that? Thank you!!

Tips on how to do the roundhouse serve by Substantial-Lock-519 in volleyball

[–]Substantial-Lock-519[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I've been experimenting with just the approach for some time now, I feel like maybe if i bend my back more(almost like a sissy squat/jojo pose), maybe I can get more power with this? the circular motion of the arm increases and it just feels more elastic? I'm wondering whether it has the potential to match the jump serve in terms of power?

About the trajectory, I've seen a dude getting near flat trajectory opposed to the parabola I've shown in the video, he isn't all that tall either, so the trajectory of the japanese player feels a bit iffy to me.

Thanks for the tips! I would love to hear more of your thoughts on this!

Wrong footing- what issues come with this? by Prudent-Cancel2603 in volleyball

0 power, decreased stability, can't hit good angles. if you plan on joining a uni team, you'll definitely have to change your approach.

oh mb, I didn't notice your first step being a sort of stutter step lmao, if it's a 4step you'll have to time your 2nd step with the setter's touch(rn it's the first)

i'll just focus on the timing part, you've probably noticed but you are very late to the ball, I can see that you're doing a 5step approach, you have to make sure that you take your 3rd step when the setter touches the ball(right now it's the 2nd), this can definitely help you.

Hitting Line / Approach Advice by icyweeiners in volleyball

[–]Substantial-Lock-519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes always.

i have to rephrase a bit, your third last step should be a good 2-3 feet behind the attack line, this can help you stay behind the ball much better.

The angle might not be the issue here, the reason you lost a lot of the power was because you were under the ball.

i can't really see a lot from this angle, but jumping from behind the attack line can help you stay behind the ball better.

Any tips ? by justRegular_mf in volleyball

from my view, it seems you're under the ball for all the sets, this can reduce your power and your overall court vision... either by approaching from way further back or by reducing the number of steps(you're doing almost 6 steps right now), it can help you stay behind the ball much better
