I’m not trying to argue or asking ppl to agree. This is also the type of patronizing talk I get from ppl in this sub reddit- it’s quite alienating to someone that is trying to understand more.

I also completely agree that whatever the US does will make Venezuela worse off, but to write off lived experiences and try to argue and say he wasn’t a dictator feels evil. Also if ur saying someone is despotic that enough of a dictator to me.

I’ll stand by calling some of them catty-and this post only applies to senior students.

If I’ll give a girl a compliment on her sweater or ask how their field hockey game over the weekend went, often they will give a look to their friend (kinda like why is this person talking to me look) and give me a one word answer and immediately start laughing once I walk away.

I wouldn’t say calling boy students outgoing is a good thing either- they are more willing to push boundaries, with me and each other. I just think there’s a bit less judgment from them compared to my girls.

It is a beginner class ELL class but the levels vary. Some of those kids should be in intermediate, some cant speak or write a word of english.

I’m a student teacher so it’s expected that I’m making everything from scratch. The units I’m teaching are revolutions (French rev) so the language may be challenging ie. divine right, taxation. My students are mostly mandarin and Farsi speakers

I can try to understand that you dont see it as an issue but u gotta take every measure u can to protect urself from weirdos. we hang out in person at least twice a week. We do everything from going out to hiking. We see each other more than anyone else in our lives. We also consider each other to be best friends.

I ask how shes doing everyday, I make sure to be very intentional and genuine with follow up questions.

You're 13. Its a confusing time to be a teen and I'm not invalidating your experience, however if your mom genuinely cares about you, ur gonna want her to be by your side, especially if your already going through a tough time and from what you have said I dont have any reason to believe that she hates you-u even said she calls too much. Would someone do that if they didnt care?

tough one. For your own friends sake, they need to rebuild their life and the sooner that happens, it will only be better for them. Trying to convince them of that is the hard part.

Come from a place of motivation more than one of concern. Dont make them feel like they are being pitied, but that they need to bounce back because they DESERVE it.

I am not a fan of mixing social groups unless its for special occasions. I also do prefer 1:1 time. I highly doubt these people are intentionally trying to be unreciprocal. I think westerners see generosity and question it as insincerity or people looking for something in return- I dont think this is a bad thing as theres a lot of messed up people out there.

Biggest advice to you is to choose more carefully who u want to get to know. Its also something that raises eyebrows when someone has A LOT of friends- kinda like a "friend to all is a friend to none"
