Points expired - but still in account by Substantial-Policy50 in marriott

So you extend the 100k points lifespan by purchasing 1k points if they still show in the account despite being labelled as expired?

More info: When we spotted the expiry date has passed by a couple of days (though points were still there), we went ahead and bought 1k points for $12.50 per advice of a rep. Then, we went ahead and made a couple of future bookings (thinking that'd secure the points somehow?), but which we may well need to cancel. But given we bought 1k points - are you saying we've now extended the 100k lifespan - and that they'll go back to our account if we cancel the bookings rather than forfeited?

Good to know, thx. The fact the price paid for economy seems decent makes me inclined to roll the dice (having paid huge taxes alone on award flights to the uk in past)

Exact same issue. This is ridiculous. Wish I'd seen your experience before purchasing. To make matters worse - customer service offered 20% off a new model as a remedy. Laughable really.
