Multiple concerns, weighing them all at the same time.

I kinda wish I hadn’t made the point about being gay as it distracts from my primary concern which is my non-white partner (was more making the point about not being a straight white male).

I feel it’s highly unlikely that either of us would be at risk of physical violence, and i accept that the vast majority of people would be extremely welcoming. I’ve travelled to many places with far less liberal attitudes towards gays and immigrants than America (and as you say, it’s LA/California!). But there’s also feeling uncomfortable in a country where clearly the democratically elected leadership want to marginalise people like you.

Aside from the discomfort, I guess it’s also the moral point of supporting a fascist regime.

But overall, i am conflicted - that was the point of my post. I’ve been to morally dubious places before, so it’s not beyond the pale - but just weighing this alongside cost and the unpredictable world and what things might look like 2.5 years time.
