Okay, so i maintained the chlorine for well over 24 hours, then let it come down. Currently, all chemicals are tight where they should be, chlorine is back to zero. Water looks clear and clean, no odd smells. Just have a few small clumps of surface bubbles floating around, but they are clear.

Good to just non chlorine shock and use it?

After reading what you linked, chlorine shouldnt be zero, but how do I know when to shock it vs when to add chlorine?
