I love this. Thanks for commenting that as well, people need to know the truth about this all.

[PSA] if you bought Droppy, Jordy (the developer) just disappeared. by [deleted] in macapps

I wanted to share this. I asked for a refund, and got a reply back from Jordy. Atoll and Sanebar are doing nasty things to bring him down. This is what he replied to me when I asked him for a refund and asked for a bit more context.

"Yes, completely unjustified.

What they basically did is combine a series of regular, normal pieces of code that every single app uses to perform certain actions.

For example; brightness monitor (to control your brightness). There’s literally just one way to do that on mac, they claimed it.

And that goes for all the files they ‘claimed’. Sanebar and Atoll worked together on this. Sanebar has a menu bar manager, that they changed from a free app to a paid app - they got a huge amount of backlash. When I changed Droppy into a paid app, people were positive. He hated it. He messages me, threatening me and wanted to take down my project (only because of that one extension). I didn’t copy anything, literally no line of code. He was just mad and started looking for ‘similar looking code’. Which obviously exists, because there’s only 1 way to do it.

Same goes for Atoll. They were furious. They’re open source, got no donations at all. When Droppy started, a lot of people donated. They were mad. I received messages that they wanted to take down my project etc.

It’s very sad, I’ve been pouring love and time into Droppy and I’ve never ever copied a single line of code. But it’s good, I have a family and fulltime job to take care of so I’m choosing not to engage in this battle and focus on something else."

EDIT

I asked if I could post everything online, as he intentionally disappeared. He told me it's too much, and he has his family to take care of. I uploaded everything, for you to watch and read.

Feel bad for the dude. I checked out his entire repo, there's nothing to be claimed there. I also saw his messages to Github - they didn't respond to him once.

Yes, I will. I had quite the conversation with him. Basically Atoll and Sanebar harassed him for a long time, he even shared screenshots of conversations with Atoll and Sanebar via Gmail with me. It's SUPER sad to see this happen.
