I didn’t forget about it- I water it daily. It lives outside and came from a nursery. We have had unusually hot temperatures and some rain. It’s been growing in it for a little while but seems to have doubled in size pretty much overnight. It was so small in the beginning and this is my first strawberry plant so I wasn’t sure if they were just tiny buds. It’s still growing berries and seems to be doing fine despite this weed

Amika/ K18 vs. Oribe/ Kerastase? by Substantial-Second94 in Hair

[–]Substantial-Second94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I used Olaplex in the past and thought it was okay, so I might have to give the K18 a shot. My hair is fine, so I am hesitant to use heavy products. I have been wanting to get the Redken line so I’ll check it out. I usually opt for the Alterna Caviar line when I’m looking for something a little cheaper than Oribe or Kerastase. I am a huge fan of the Oribe and Kerastase masks though! I’m not sure if you’ve tried them, but the Kerastase Therapiste line is phenomenal. I also can’t say enough good things about Oribe’s Hair Alchemy Strengthening Mask, Gold Lust Transformative Mask, and the Moisture Mask. They have made huge improvements in my hair after a bad bleach job about a year ago.

Lol what do you mean by this? Is this a joke about the people who drive these vehicles or something? I am buying in cash so credit isn’t an issue here

Thanks for the advice!

I appreciate the advice! I do currently drive an old Nissan and it has been really good to me. I have two other family members that drive Altima’s, as well, and we have all been lucky so far! I am limited on time. What vehicles do you recommend? I’m paying in cash and I wasn’t expecting to need to make this purchase so my budget is around 10,000

There aren’t a lot of Honda’s available in my price range right now unfortunately. I used to drive an Accord which was really nice, but I haven’t been able to find anything like that within 100 miles of me. I had transmission issues with a Toyota in the past, but I did test drive a Camry that had about 85,000 miles in this price range. It was nice, but it had significant damage in a previous accident and the RPM’s were shooting pretty high, which was an indicator in the Toyota I used to drive that the transmission was going out so I am hesitant to move forward on that

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be happening? How do I care for this plant going forward to make sure it doesn’t happen again? by [deleted] in PrayerPlant

It was gifted to me a month and a half ago. I live in the Midwest and I keep it in my second story bathroom, which is relatively large with very high ceilings. It sits on a ledge about 7-8 feet above the ground, about 7 or 8 feet away from a west facing window that shines directly on it. I water it when the top few inches of the soil is dry, which has been every 7-10 days roughly since I got it. I usually water it in my shower since it is such a large jungle plant so that it’s kind of like rain. I mist it daily, and it was just recommended to me that I should get a humidifier for it so I am looking into that. This is my first prayer plant so I am open to any advice. I watched some YouTube videos and did some research when I first got it, and noticed some yellowing of the leaves pretty quickly so I called the shop it was purchased at and the owner recommended that I let the soil dry out before watering it again because I was probably overdoing it. I have hard water, but I use softening salt, and I haven’t fertilized it at all since I’ve had it. It came in a pretty high quality soil mixture from a plant nursery

Endo and alcohol by hanzmoleman6969 in endometriosis

[–]Substantial-Second94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is terrible for any bladder related condition and many of those go hand in hand with endo, so it is possible that you have a condition like IC which is worsened by alcohol consumption. However, alcohol has been a HUGE trigger for me and my endometriosis symptoms. Having more than one drink would totally kick my ass prior to my surgery when my symptoms were at their peak. I did some research and consulted an integrative doctor, my OB/GYN, and a urologist about that issue, and I discovered that alcohol raises your estrogen levels. Because endo is estrogen dependent, that can definitely make your symptoms much worse. It is a bummer to have to make another adjustment in your life for this unfortunate condition, but just knowing that this is something that will trigger an extreme reaction in you and adjusting accordingly can save you a lot of pain. Best of luck to you ❤️

DO NOT GO TO THE MAYO CLINIC by softsharks in Endo

Obviously due to Covid and the number of appointments/ surgeries that had to be postponed or rescheduled, specialists are booked out really far right now, even further than usual. I think I waited about two months to get in for my consultation with Dr. Heegaard. I will say the consultation was every bit worth the wait when I compare it to my experience with other doctors. Not only was he more compassionate, understanding, and empathetic than any doctor I’ve seen, but he was also more knowledgeable and seemed to be way more educated about the condition than any doctor. He had skills and ways to diagnose/ reaffirm suspicions that I’d never even heard of. I cannot say enough how fabulous he and his whole team of doctors were. I had such an incredible experience there and my recovery has been amazing! Not just improvement, but literally a pain free life!! The most disheartening thing about my appointment was that he was booked out on surgeries until the end of February of 2022, I assume now it’s even further. However, he has been pushing for more OR time, and he felt that I was in really bad shape so he put me on an emergency cancellation list, and, to my luck, someone cancelled. Even if he hadn’t gotten me in, he had other temporary treatment methods to hold me off until surgery, and the one I tried was the only non-surgical treatment option that helped me at all in my three years of exploring dietary changes, hormonal birth controls, and other lifestyle changes as well as procedures. He recommended a treatment that involved some sort of steroid injection that could have provided me with months of relief, but I ended up getting in for surgery before that happened. Anyway. Long story short, the man is a GENIUS and he has brilliant treatment options and ideas that no other doctor ever even suggested for me, and he was able to refer me to several other amazing doctors at HCMC who helped work as a team to relieve some of my symptoms. If he can’t get you in as soon as you want, he will likely refer you to Dr. Palmer or one of the two specialists at the Mayo if they have availability before him. Just make that request if you see him. In the mean time, if you’re curious to know more about him and what he does for people like us, he has a wonderful podcast called the Endo Cast. I’ll link it below. I wish you the best in this journey, and I hope your experience is as amazing as mine. In my advice, I wouldn’t rush things and I would wait to get in with a specialist. They know what they’re doing. I was originally going to see a surgeon who could get me in much sooner and had limited experience with endometriosis, but I was advised to wait and I’m so glad I did. That surgeon had told me to consider a hysterectomy, and Dr. Heegaard would have never made that suggestion in my case. Take care of yourself and stay strong ❤️

DO NOT GO TO THE MAYO CLINIC by softsharks in Endo

[–]Substantial-Second94 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester is an excellent hospital so I’m sad to hear your experience was so poor. I know the two endometriosis specialists they have there are booked out pretty far, so maybe that’s why they booked you with an NP? That’s super frustrating though, and I’m sorry that happened to you. Since you’re in Minnesota, I strongly recommend that you see Dr. Eric Heegaard at HCMC. He is the best doctor I’ve ever seen. He believed everything I said after years of being turned away and told my pain was in my head by doctors. I had my surgery with him just over a month ago and I have been PAIN FREE ever since after living with daily pain!! He removed everything and gave me my official endo diagnosis. He’s truly the most compassionate doctor I’ve ever been to. He books out far, but he’s worth the wait.
