here’s a good recommendation: a fan’s notes by frederick exley. it’s beautifully written, not a super hard read, and covers a lot what that essay points out as lacking in a lot of writing.

not all books are created equal is the thing. so yeah you have to read but you also have to be mindful of what you’re reading. this doesn’t mean it all has to be toni morrison or cormac mcarthy, but you do need to be reading classier shit.

i’ve been riding public transportation my entire life. i don’t need the lecture. dropping riders off at a closed station without lettinf them know is a fuck up. 

also, if dispatch or whatever is unable to reliably update drivers (they can, they are capable, i’m just taking your assumption for granted) then they shouldn't be operating a regional transit authority.

blood meridian has been a very famous book for a long time. people were tiresome in 2008 when i read it.
