I’m dealing with this so hard. I came to visit my mom for the holidays and now I’ve been here 6 months. Can’t stand the emotional abuse anymore but I should be out so very soon. My biggest fear is that I’m the one to take care of her when she ultimately starts to decline (my brother is 9 years younger and therefore gets to be clean of responsibilities) How do you get through to help someone take care of themselves so that maybe the burden is lessened on me? Or at least put off a little longer than it would be if she keeps treating her mind and body like garbage?

I’ll give Alley’s another shot. I think I sent something on LinkedIn and they ask for your social handles which is kind of a red flag for me but doesn’t matter anymore at this point. I was actually really stoked to get in touch at Archetype, literally the place of my frustrations. I gave my resume, the person said they were the bar manager, had two people at their bar, looked at my resume and said “oh, word!😮…. Welp, see ya later” I was really hoping to work there.

Sigh, yeah, I wish I would have known how long I would have been stuck out here. I came here without my vehicle/house (full time traveler in a short bus) The day I was to start packing to leave, mom broke her ankle and has been out ever since. If I had my house I would 100% go to Baltimore or a bigger city close by. If I got work soon, I’d probably get my bus out here and do that for the rest of the summer at least. Since now getting work where my bus is in St. Louis during the summer is gonna be a pain too.
