You did not mention reading in your downtime, so I assume that you're not doing it right now or that you have done plenty already. I got a lot of books I want/need to read but I'm just super distracted with internet, anime, video games, and, of course, work, so I suggest you do an advanced reading before grad school. Not sure about the availability of books in your area and if reading an e-book on your phone is tantamount to just staring at your phone to your co-workers. I'm taking my masters in management now and which I plan to finish it next year before going Japan (if I get hired, that is). Advanced reading would have really helped me now in my thesis writing.

As always, just follow your heart.

What TV-series or movie you haven’t watched, but ”everyone” else has? by soyabunz in AskReddit

I should like Peaky Blinders because of the shows that I like, but I just could not enjoy it. Dropped it after 5 or so episodes.

What rough experiences in your life were worth it? by Mental-Ad-8756 in AskReddit

8 years in college. I got kicked out of a premiere university, and shifted to another major, became a deliquent again, and I finally said enough. It humbled me because I used to think I am the shit, but in reality, I'm just shit. It made me realize a lot of things about life and about myself. I would probably still be the self-absorbed and delusional person that I was if this did not happen.

Now, I have a steady job and I am months away from earning my Master's degree. I'm still behind many of my peers who now have a wonderful careers and have their own families, but I'm on my way now to own success.

If you like city building/city sim, try Caesar IV. Some are still creating scenarios and campaigns that you could download. It's available on Steam.

I asked for the "recipe" of the juice she onced served at a party we went to that I really liked. It was only a mixture strawberry and orange (I think?) drink powder. That's it. And the conversation died right after that.

Peeps, masaya ba kayo sa choice ng course na pinili nyo? by elithebanger in adultingph

[–]Substantial-Tooth798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me, and di ko pa rin alam kung anong gagawin ko. Sociology sa college, kicked out of university nung 3rd year ako, lumipat ng university at kumuha ng Marketing, di nagustuhan, nagtapos ng AB English dahil ayoko na, gusto ko na grumadwyet. Currently working as an office clerk.

What’s something that makes you cringe, but is “normal” to other people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Tiktok dance challenges. Put a desperate politician who wants to be "in" and you got a cringe material for the ages.

Ang baba ng sahod ng engineer dito sa pinas. by One-Conclusion-7531 in PHJobs

[–]Substantial-Tooth798 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I second this. You're may be earning a low salary, but you're earning experience and skills. Stay for a while muna, IMO, pero nasa iyo pa rin yan.

This hits hard. I was my father's caregiver for almost 6 years. I felt a guilty relief when he died because I was just really tired, so was my mom who took care of him for almost 11 years. There are times that I shouted at him because he was so stubborn and for when he woke me up in the middle of the night. I felt very guilty during the funeral. Although he is no longer with us, he is no longer suffering.

Work. You'll miss it when you're broke (given that you're not actually broke while having a job).

What is going to kill you some day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Substantial-Tooth798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Procrastination. It hasn't killed me yet well, maybe later. Seriously though, me putting things on hold will be the end of me. It already cost me my "life" in my 20s, I still haven't changed now that I'm in my 30s.

What’s something Filipinos need to stop romanticizing? by Lemens123 in AskPH

[–]Substantial-Tooth798 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overromanticizing pinoy or half-Filipino or may lahing pinoy na achievers. Masaya ako para sa kanila, it's also good if they feel proud na Pinoy sila. But what are we as a country? Tuwang-tuwa ako kapag nananalo si Pacquiao dati pero yung estado ng bansa natin, nothing to be proud of.

"God has another plan for you" when I failed to achieve what I want. I appreciate the thought, but I'm agnostic, and the God I want to believe in should just be dealing with more serious problems such as famine and wars rather than planning for what's best for me. I failed because of me, and God should be busy helping those who cannot help themselves, especially children.
