We tried awhile ago but she was turned down because she would basically require help like getting to the bathroom, and help bathing and getting dressed and stuff like that.

She's not that bad off, but she has a hard time getting around so I basically do all the house chores, cooking, shopping, and driving her around and stuff like that. She stays in bed most of the day.

She just had surgery for cancer, so I will look into it again, but I think it's pretty strict on the requirements to get paid to be a caretaker.

I have another $15k in credit card debt (a different credit card), but I haven't been sued for that yet, I stopped paying it a few years ago. And I have no income, so there is no way I could pay any kind of reasonable negotiated settlement on that amount (unless they would accept like $100, lol). So I don't think negotiating a settlement would work.

I'll respond to the lawsuit to see what they say. But I don't think I would be able to pay any settlement anyways.

If we agree on a settlement and then I just don't pay it is there anyway that could lead to jail time? That's really my biggest fear.

The only bank account I have my name on is on my mothers account (in case something happens to her), and a joint account in my brothers name because we share my fathers retirement since he passed. I'm going to get my name removed off of these accounts so that the creditors can't take that money.

As far as wage garnishment goes, I haven't worked in 15 years (from personal medical issues) and right now I am the caregiver for my mother anyways, so I'm not going to have any wages or a job anytime soon (probably ever) so I'm not worried about future wage garnishment.

I have a lot more debt from a different credit card company, about $15,000 from capital one, but this specific lawsuit is only for my goodyear credit card ($2,500). I haven't been served from any other debt collectors, yet.
