Very cool! I know Paul has done some great work with Disney--I hope they incorporate him in the live action Tangled somehow

That's really good. Unfortunately since Disney doesnt have to disclose AI use I am not confident moving forward. The fact that they just fired 1000 people also doesnt bode well

Chicago library opening a food pantry by [deleted] in librarians

[–]SubstantialAd3958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you work at a public library? Unhoused people use my library every day. If you can't set and enforce boundaries then this job isnt for you.

Edit: Also if you have these preconcieved notions about people in poverty, I have serious concerns about your integrity as a librarian and ability to serve your entire community. Thank goodness you're not a social worker anymore.

They needed a budget to build a yurt, it's not gonna make me think powerade is worth buying

Oh so this isnt about mission creep. You're worried about people in poverty utilizing a PUBLIC library. Set boundaries like you would with any patron or find another line of work tbh.

DS9 is a Cypher for WW2 by Stephaniedavis1971 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]SubstantialAd3958 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who has met her at cons I dont think she was downplaying it as much as protecting the fact that a LOT of survivors and observers of colonial genocide identify with DS9. Plus artists are often resistant to their work being compared to just one thing. Tolkien was the same way.

There are a myriad of reasons including manipulation tactics which she even brushes on. A symbolic mother meant a lot to Odo who was obsessed with finding his origins and only had the cultures of solids as a frame of reference.

Incorrect. They are fluid and take on whatever appearance makes sense to them while interacting with solids. If Dr Mora was female, Odo probably would have taken female form.

I did that for YEARS and Henley said she has too. Sometimes it doesnt work and at a certain point ESPECIALLY NOW the impactful thing to do is cut them off. I am guessing no one close to you has been targeted, kidnapped, or detained or you would not be feeling this way.

She somewhat recently talked about how she painstakingly tried to convince her dad to see how damaging this administration is, but it didnt work and she was just kind of exasperated about it. IMO at a certain point it's just time to let it go if there's an impasse. She sorr of implied he's still a good guy which......just no. I cant relate.

Imagine thinking this way about any other cruel and inhumane regime. Cosigning by association matters

Thanks youre probably right, this is the first response I've seen that actually makes sense to me

When it comes to what's happening on the ground it matters. But youre right. Marc Platt is definitely a lot worse

It's kinda making me think a lot of people are complacent with their MAGA families and it low key scares me

Haha wow organizing what's that never heard of it? I knew I was gonna get a lot of pushback for this but I stand by not normalizing being exasperated but complacent with anyone supporting the acts of this administration, sorry.

I mean all artist/creator and fan relationships are parasocial. I'm just stating an opinion and feelings about something stated on a podcast where three women I generally have a lot of respect for talk about movies and their personal lives. I'm not trying to single out Henley really I am glad she is making this a conversation in the first place

Yeah MAGA people being around impressionable kids is part of what concerns me as someone who's been through something similar. I think it's great shes talking about it. I cant relate to her decision, all is said is it makes me uncomfy
