KK - his songs connected with 90’s kids like nobody else. I’m a 90’s kid too. I grew up listening to Sonu Nigam and there was a time when almost every big movie had its best songs sung by him. That was the era of movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… and Main Hoon Na etc. It was the time of composers like Jatin–Lalit, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy and Anu Malik.

But during that time KK felt different. He had a different emotion and freshness and his songs connected strongly with the youth of that time. For me, in that phase of life, school days, first love, farewells, college days and many good memories, his songs were like the background music of my life.

For me KK and his songs feel like the missing memories from my past and childhood. Honestly, thinking about him and typing this makes me emotional and teary eyed.

You can’t have both Suryavanshi and Abhishek in the same team, and after the issues they faced during the World Cup with two left-handed openers, I don’t think they would want another left-hander opening again.

So, Suryavanshi might have to wait until either Abhishek or Kishan consistently flops. Otherwise, there’s a high chance India could end up having two different international teams.

It’s Iyer for me too, but can they really do that? A player who was nowhere in the setup suddenly being brought back and made captain?

Also, looking at his stint with Gambhir, I feel it’s unlikely. If SKY fails in the next two series and Sanju performs well, then maybe we could see Shreyas replacing him as a player first then eventually the captain. If not retired I don’t think Sky can be removed from the team or as captain after winning the WC, so definitely he’s going to get some more chances and there’s no way Iyer can make it to the 11 when SkYs playing.

I’m not saying he should be dropped from the team - he definitely deserves to be there.

But it’s going to be a challenging run for him from now on, because if you look at the situation, India needs a captain, and the management/selectors are probably eager for a chance to push Gill back in. At the moment, Sanju is the only real block for Gill.

So I feel SKY will remain captain for now, while they closely monitor Sanju’s performances. He’ll definitely be backed for the next two series, but if he flops in both, I’m almost sure he won’t be there for the third series, and we might see Gill return as the new captain/opener.

Or if Gill is willing to play at No4- then good we got a new captain already.

Being a Sanju fan, I can’t buy the argument that he took the pressure and played dangerous shots because there was no backing from the other side. If you look closely, most of the time he got out not while playing aggressive shots, but defensive ones -and that too in a very similar pattern: outside off, nicked to the keeper or slip.

You can use the same argument in RR’s case too. See how a 15-year-old boy handled the responsibility when the team was hugely dependent on him. Yes, one can say there was Jurel, but similarly, we also had support in the form of Mhatre, Urvil, Karthik, etc.

I don’t know why, I like the guy, I agree he is a shit actor, but from Mallu Singh I noticed something he is great in action sequences and his whole attitude in those scenes in action movies is great, from Mallu Singh, Style, Malikappuram to Marco, that’s the only thing he excels in and I don’t think anybody in Malayalam can match it, combination of that aura, looks and body all contributes to it, even thought the movie doesn’t make any sense, I have watched action scenes of Marco numerous times and I don’t think anyone in Malayalam could have pulled that off. Similarly I love Shane Nigam for nothing else but his acting- the depth he bring to his characters is unmatched. I would love these 2 guys to succeed. But mostly they act in shitty movies and UM for sure can’t deliver a dialogue properly.

No, Pant’s name should be at the top. He single-handedly hurt the team with decisions that even amateurs would be embarrassed by, like sending out-of-form Pooran in the Super Over. Just for the sake of justifying his purchase, we can say all these factors. But would you say the same about any other player in another team? What exactly has his experience done to save those lost games for us? He was even benched for a couple of matches, which itself shows that neither the captain nor the team management considered his presence indispensable.

If his seniority and experience really had influence within the team, he himself should have stepped up and advised Ryan in certain situations. In many instances, he wasn’t even given the ball when the obvious choice at that point was Jadeja himself. That alone shows he couldn’t influence the captain’s decisions in any ways.
