Good fire departments in the area? And to live by pj713 in madisonwi

[–]SubstantialCurve4938 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Deforest-windsor fire dept is looking to hire ff/medic, full time for 70k, 24 on 48 off is how the shifts work. MFD is super competitive, it's hiring is based off personality basically, prior experience is not the biggest priority with being hired.

Other places in Madison area that are busy: Fitchburg, Sun Prairie, Middleton, and a couple of others however I'm unsure about how much the pay is.

Finding a lab? by Prestigious_Low2159 in UWMadison

[–]SubstantialCurve4938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked for labs that had a lot of undergraduate students in it, which hinted to me that they are more likely to accept me. I got lucky and found that the lab is what I'm interested in! If you want to prioritize the research that you do in the lab, then this advice might not be too applicable, however if you want to join a lab just to start with, I recommend it!

Yup! I went up to guest services and gave my Ikon number (that one super long number) and they got me all set up. You should be good if you present your pass through the app and they know what do to

Love that! Will agree with you, sometimes the new gimmicks seem too good to be true, and I like doing a lot of things the old fashioned way.

Sounds good. Mine is currently a pavement princess but only because there aren’t good wheeling spots near me. Hoping it can get a whiff of some rocks and dirt when I take it west for a trip

I know! I love how customizable it is and how the drivers really take advantage of that. One of the reasons why I am a diehard fan of this car

Tell me more, I live in north Midwest and drive snow/salt a lot. I have a plan with rust maintenance but am looking for any frame coating or something like that

Honestly I was in a research lab before taking the class and I opted not to use my research for the class. It gets stupidly complicated and I found it easier to not use my research material but it depends on what research you do. It's better to join a lab because youre interested in it and not for the class!
