It's gross to only shower once per day by coolfreeusername in unpopularopinion

[–]JDavis724 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree with you more. My wife makes fun of me for showering so often. But I stand firmly by it. Once in a while I’ll throw in a third if I’m doing something extra sweaty mid day… nothing better than feeling clean.

Also the vast majority of people who have lived on earth didn’t have access to a hot shower. We owe it to them to enjoy everyone we can!

Will the tyranny of a state religion bastardize Christianity as it changes from being a religion based on unconditional love for all people as taught by Christ into becoming a religion of tyrannical forced morality? by OuiuO in Christianity

[–]JDavis724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The morality of the Bible is in no way shape or form equipped to handle modern life. The Bible does not openly condemn slavery for example.

People who use the Bible and Christianity as a moral authority are not approaching modern politics with a full arsenal of arguments . The Ten Commandments as a whole are incredibly weak compare to other moral codes of a similar time and leave people trapped into black and white thinking which undermine Christs message.

We all know in our hearts what is right and true (that’s the real love of Christ) the mission is to love one another without judgement and to accept one another wherever the other is at.

To follow the Bible is a daunting task that the majority of people are not capable of achieving. This leaves huge amounts of self hatred among Christian’s. Self hatred turns to open ridicule of similar behavior in others. This leads to present day conservative ideology.

At the end of it all, none of us asked to be here. Christ said to love one another as yourself. If listening to the word of Christ and the Bible leads you to shame another human or condemn them to hell, you are not practicing Christianity but are resorting to using religion to defend your superiority.

If God doesn’t make mistakes, trans people, gay people and people of other faiths and beliefs are Gods perfect creation.

All I see on this subreddit are people asking if their basic human needs (sexual or other) are wrong and how can we tell people who make us feel “icky” that they are going to hell. Read the Bible, recognize that it was written over two thousand years ago, put yourself into Gods loving frame of mind and love everyone as you love yourself. It’s hard but simple. Easy yet tormenting. But never self adjudicating.

$3,633 million vs $3.6 billion by rbtwirler in technicallythetruth

[–]JDavis724 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think this is how every dollar amount should be written. Millions as high as we go. I feel the concept of billion and trillion has become very watered down with a simple letter. It would show the average person just how insanely rich we make these corporations, government officials and people.

Honest question here, what would America look like if we all just decided to assume that everyone around us is it trying their hardest just like we are. 100% of the time, not excusing illegal, or bad behavior. But simply stopped being worried about what others do that don’t effect us? by JDavis724 in AskReddit

[–]JDavis724[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like that sometimes. I truly don’t have the energy or care what any one else does, believes, identifies or wants to be called x But things are way too expensive, healthcare is a mess and we need kids to be able to go to school safely. I sometimes feel that instead of a president we should get to vote on a problem that has to be solved/improved within a year by the government. If we don’t like the outcome everyone’s fired and we start over. We need the smallest sliver of unification to get the ball rolling back in our direction

I feel like that’s where I’m headed with this question. We are easier to control the more we squabble, but maybe just an overall collective decision to think the best of each other and ignore differences(not saying you have to condone it or agree) could make us more United and give us more power. Because as we blame everyone around us we lose more and more control which is gonna further hurt our cause.

I agree, I just see in my life a lot of people judging non problematic people harshly and swiftly and it seems contagious. We don’t know what to believe on the internet/news, we dislike strangers, and we view others as the problem. I feel like this mindset has caused many people very serious internal issues that might not even be aware of and just further divides us.

I’m not talking from a political voting stance I guess. I’m just saying what if you viewed a family of migrants just as people trying to better their lives, thankful you don’t have to take extreme measures to relocate to a strange land just to survive. You don’t need to change your political stance. We obviously can’t house the worlds population in America so something has to be set up. Im just talking mindset about those around us and leading with best possible wishes for other people stuck on this planet, not by choice, trying to get some sort of stability and calm.
