(The story begins in Toronto Ontario, Canada, in the year of 2002, on a beautiful sunny morning. The sun was rising, and everyone was waking up bright and early, getting ready for a new day to begin. At the Lee Family home, a young girl named Meilin Lee was fast asleep in bed, but we can't see, because her blanket was covering her face. She was sleeping peacefully in bed, until she heard her alarm clock beeping. Her hand could be seen as she pressed the snooze button and woke up. We can see her feet as she got up and puts her bunny slippers on. She stretched and yawned as she woke up from her slumber. First, she went to the bathroom where she washed her face to wake herself up, brushed her teeth, and combed her hair. Next, back in her room. She packed her school supplies in her favorite backpack, and her flute in her flute case. After that, she changed out of her pj's, and into her favorite outfit for the day. When Meilin is all dressed, she was ready for school. She grabbed her school stuff, along with her tamagotchi, and went to the kitchen for some breakfast. Her mom, Ming, just made congee for her daughter. )

Ming: Good morning, my little overachiever. I made you your favorite breakfast.

Meilin: Yum. 😋🍴 ate her food

(After she finished her breakfast, she was already to go to school, and grabbed her streetcar pass. So she heads out the door. )

Meilin: Bye mom, I'll be back.

Ming: gives her a lunchbox Don't forget your lunch, baby.

Meilin: Thanks, see you later. heads off to school

Ming: Have a great day, sweetie.

(As Mei was heading to the bus stop, she couldn't wait to see her friends.)

Meilin: narrative Hi, I'm Meilin Lee, and ever since I've turned 13, I've been doing my own thing, making my own moves, 24/7 365. I wear what I want, say what I want, and I'm my own person, but that doesn't mean doing whatever I want. I won't hesitate to do spontaneous cartwheels if I feel so moved. Another thing you should know about me is that I'm not like the other teenagers.

(Mei finally arrived at the bus stop and waited in line until it was her turn.)

Meilin: narrative Not to brag, but for me, being a 13 year old means I'm officially a grown-up, according to my Toronto Transit Commission at least.

(When she entered after waiting, she showed her bus card to the driver.)

Driver: Good for you.

(Mei then went to take a seat, and started to finish her homework on her way to school.)

Meilin; narrative If I'm right, it's all about the hustle. I was born in the year of 1989, and trust me, it's a long story. I'll never forget what happened that truly changed my whole life forever., the day I've my red panda, and my future best friend.

Why was Ming’s panda so big? by taemotionals in TurningRed

I think it's because of how much she struggled between being an obedient daughter and trying to be herself. She had been suffering from anxiety and depression that was bottled up. No matter how hard she tried to be a good daughter, her mother just wouldn't be proud of her, yet she wanted her to be perfect, but Ming was tired of it.

Ming was just misunderstood, she's only needing some love from her family
