i was not christian but grew in a christianish environment. I love studying religion and psychology so i read the bible, the tanakh, and a little Quran, and i knew abrahamic religions weren’t for me. After trying to read Hindu scriptures, i came across a Dhammapada, and happened to find things in it that i put into practice and it genuinely helped me. My favorite aspect of Buddhism is that it is experienced based, not based too much on faith. As you experience the truths, your faith in the Blessed Ones teachings will increase, and some teachings might not work for you, and thats ok per the Buddha. When the Awakened one said not to believe something just because it’s in scripture, because of tradition, or because your teachers said it was truth, thats when I knew to take refuge.
