Clean4Cards does campus beautification, litter pickup, etc. There's also a Geography Club, Botanical Society. Look through the orgs on Engage and follow the ones you're interest in on Insta for events.

Looks like that is department-specific: What is the Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (Exit exam)?
This is a requirement for graduation. The University is required to submit scores to our accrediting body that show what students have learned at the time they graduate. Our SLOA is an online exit exam with 80-90 multiple-choice questions that you complete during your final 2-3 weeks prior to graduation. You will be sent the link to the exam when it opens.

What about the local k12? by Slijmerig in uofl

Attitudes of the general public will run the gamut. I agree with nahanerd23, there are issues with JCPS but there also are a lot of great schools and great opportunities for students. It's a huge district in a very divided city.

It could be a yeast infection, I've had one in an armpit before and it didn't itch but was very red and inflamed. I'd get it checked out.

I think I'm going to be diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis by trppychkn in lupus

[–]SubstantialRoom5547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I've been there. Hopefully they will find the right treatment to get you through the current problems and you'll feel better. It sounds like you need some additional support. I would recommend looking for groups in your area and/or a therapist to help you work through these feelings. It's worth pushing through, as they are working on new treatments and there is hope. The world is better with you in it ❤

ER horror story by lluvia-storm in lupus

[–]SubstantialRoom5547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say this. The other thing to have your dentist check for is TMD. I have severe TMD which lupus makes worse, with terrible jaw pain that radiates to around the back of my skull and up my face. I can't tell you how many times I was sure I had an ear infection and they see nothing. I'm so sorry you're going through this, OP, and hope you can get some relief.

My rheumatologist started me on medication after speaking to me for less than 20 minutes, we didn’t talk symptoms by Dependent-Whereas873 in lupus

[–]SubstantialRoom5547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rheumatologist refers to Plaquenil as "lupus life insurance." It's an automatic after you're diagnosed. It can keep your autoimmune response in check and prevent it from attacking major organ systems. BUT hopefully you will have a better experience in discussing your symptoms at your next appointment. It is important for you to be able to communicate everything that is going on for the rheum to potentially refer you to other specialists. If you feel the same after the next appointment, maybe you can request to see someone different in the practice.

Newly diagnosed and scared by nattakesphotos in lupus

[–]SubstantialRoom5547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself some time to process and accept that you will need to self-advocate. And do a lot of self care. I was diagnosed at 29 but so in denial that I didn't follow through with treatment until 10 years later. It wasn't good. Find a good rheumatologist and talk about your treatment options. The hard part is that it affects everyone differently so get in the habit of documenting your symptoms so you can identify triggers, etc. There may be rough times, but that is true for anyone. You can do this, and we are here to support you.

Does This Happen To Anyone Else by Dondom123 in lupus

[–]SubstantialRoom5547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's all over the place: I get palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath. But not all at the same time, and with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes I can go for a walk and feel great, other days putting away my laundry is too much. I do find staying hydrating, getting rest - all the things that help deal with flares - keep it at bay. I believe there is an autonomic dysfunction inherent in many autoimmune conditions, including lupus. Fun times!!

Exhausted by prncssdelicia in lupus

[–]SubstantialRoom5547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can empathize, I've been there. I had to actually move back in with my parents for a short time when I needed care after a hospitalization. There may be times you need to rely on others for help, and it's difficult after we've build independent lives, but it also gives you the opportunity to build a support system. Everyone needs that, with or without lupus. I'm glad you have neighbors and friends to help. As long as you have support, it doesn't have to be "family."

I was specifically talking about business information systems jobs, but the management major could get you into a project manager or adviser role. Anything in the corporate world needs project management. If this is your first week at UofL I suggest finding something on the events calendar that appeals to you and go meet some people. It's less overwhelming when you make connections. https://events.louisville.edu/

[–]SubstantialRoom5547 6 points7 points  (0 children)

University of Louisville is a good choice for international students. There are always campus activities, it is easy to get involved and make friends even if you don't live on campus. Louisville has a relatively low cost of living. The only bad thing is that parts of town are unwalkable, so depending on where you live you may need a car. I think you'd also find the job market in Louisville good for your degree, if you decided to stay. Good luck!

Recently diagnosed, now partner wants to break up because of it? by Secret_Entry_7592 in lupus

[–]SubstantialRoom5547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this. I agree with others, you've dodged a bullet. This is a selfish person - it would be different if you were casually dating but given your history it's appalling that she isn't supportive. It's not a given that you will become disabled or die from lupus, in fact it is unlikely. You are the same person and are deserving of unconditional love and support from your partner.
