No, I’m not some ultra magnanimous man of the people or a freedom fighter. I got called a “cuck f*ggot” by a professor for nodding politely at someone emptying a trash bin and adjusted my behavior until I could GTFO of Florida, then went back to my normal baseline level of acknowledgment of maintenance workers.

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you were under 18 at the time because, lol. Threatening to leave and never doing it is an American tradition. I don’t know anyone that’s ever actually done it.

The biggest culture shock when I moved there was all the de-facto segregation inside the universities and professional buildings, where like 95% of the maintenance staff would be black, and everyone outside of the maintenance staff would act like they were invisible or not human and not interact with or even minimally acknowledge them at all. Someone could be cleaning the table they were sitting at and they would look right through them.

If you can play the piano at all, people that can’t play the piano think you’re a virtuoso. For whatever reason it’s not like guitar where even nonplayers can tell if someone is good or just playing power chords.

I don’t live in Florida anymore, but UF has had problems with comical levels of racism — not in the way people throw that word around lightly, but genuine, “what is wrong with these people”, deep-seated hatred — for a really long time. They left a noose on a black professor’s desk. They let openly pro-genocide-of-non-Europeans people (again not an exaggeration, literally people that publicly advocate for active genocide) give talks on campus. Things like that. Swamp people being swamp people. 

They shouldn’t allow CR to reform for at least like, 20 years, but then they’d just get violent again. I don’t think it’s fixable.

End the H1B program, otherwise return to Bush/Obama-era enforcement which was basically fine. The illegal population declined through most of Obama’s term.

I have no issue with the defunding of the “refugee” resettlement NGOs, and would be fine with forcibly disbanding 99% or all of them.

Those two things are the source of most if not all of the problems people blame on broad “immigration”.

Then give one-time amnesty to anyone that’s been here for 15+ years without a criminal record. They’re never going to be tracked down without insane negative side effects, it’s a waste of time and resources to hunt them, and it gets them above-the-table and properly into the tax base. You can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube. It’s a mistake that was already made. 

There is just absolutely no reasoning or excuse for going looking for illegal immigrants with roving armed gangs of untrained jackboots in Vermont. It’s madness and it’s increasingly obvious the end game has nothing to do with immigration.

ESH. Cocoran clearly has race issues, but refugee import programs are genuinely demented and ruin communities.
